Re: Several Pacers Involved In Gun Fight
Sigh......once again people jumping to conclusions.......
First of all, the guys at the club got up in Pacers' players faces.....They argued back so nothing serious.......Then the Pacers LEFT.......They left the club and the guys followed them out.....Then one of the guys punched Jackson in the face.......He didn't do ANYTHING until the guy tried to run him over with the car.......Thats when he pulled out his gun.......Yes he was strapped, yes he does have a permit, and yes, I would be strapped too if I was an NBA player and I went to a club........I'll be damned if I'm gonna be trapped in my house scared of the public.....He fired 4 shots but didn't hit anyone or anything I'm pretty sure....Tinsley and Daniels were also strapped but their guns were in their cars.......What if Jackson hadn't had his gun on him? These guys were obviously serious and the Pacers players couldn't been hurt or even killed........Please spare me these ridiculous comments acting like its his fault.......They tried to walk away from the situation......And we know every athelete and his father goes to the strip club so spare me that too.....
And actually, they were at Club Rio which I've been too before and its not even what you would call and "urban" club......It was predominantly white when I went there and there are girls of all colors dancing there......Hell, the music they were playing was from the 80's and 90's......Barely any hip-hop was played.......So it seems to be a pretty "high class" strip club, not one where violence ever breaks out.....So take that how you want....
I get tired of people trying to find any opportunity to jump on a player when they don't even know all of the facts......In this case, I commend them for attempting to walk out of the club and leave.....
However, it was reported that one of the Pacers had a small amount of weed on them or in their car......I assume that was Marquis....Comment

Re: Several Pacers Involved In Gun Fight
First off, the pacers are one of the best run of any nba franchises, and is widely known for being so. Everyone here is saying the pacers are this and the pacers that, but have no idea about anything going on with them or this particular case. The police and the night club have said the pacers had really nothing to do with all of this, they were all fine in the night club and didnt start anything. They had guns, but had permits to have them, and being an NBA star in downtown indy at 3 am, I too would have a gun. Stephen got ran over with the car, and got punched in the mouth. According to all reports, they never tried to fight back, for all we know they could have been getting jumped or whatever. I admit Jackson isnt the best guy in the world, or the best citizen, but he will always have a bad wrap now because of the brawl in detroit, which at the time he was just defending his team mate. So, before you start calling the pacers a bunch of no good thugs, at least look at the entire situation and the whole team. Everyteam has someone with a history."Basketball may have been born in Massachusetts, but it grew up in Indiana." - James NaismithComment

Re: Several Pacers Involved In Gun Fight
Why don't I like Jackson? I mean, he's a stand up guy...never causing any trouble...very high class...easily one of the best guys in the league from a PR standpoint...forget Bron, the NBA needs to put Jackson out there as the face of the NBA, why haven't they done this already!!Comment

I always thought Stephen Jackson was a thug, ever since he played for the Spurs.
What a waste.Comment

Re: Several Pacers Involved In Gun Fight
If none of these players are disciplined, then we need new managment.
First, I have wanted Tinsley and <st1:city w:st="on"><st1>Jackson</st1></st1:city> traded for a while, so I just hope this pushes that process along.
<o></o>
Secondly, I have no problem with these guys being at a strip club.
<o></o>
I do have a problem with them being at one on a work night, knowing they had to go to practice the next day. It would be different if it was a Friday/Saturday night, hell, if any of you know what
I did last Saturday you would know I did not get back from the strip club till 4AM (they close it 4).
<o></o>
I do hope TPTB take some kind of stand on this, if for nothing else to show that the players can’t be doing this stuff during training camp. During the off-season? Fine. That is your time.
<o></o>
This is the time to focus on basketball and team chemistry.Comment

MLB:Reds/Tigers
NHL:Red Wings
NCAA:Michigan Wolverines.
F-1: Ferrari.
It's been a while OS. Hope all are doing well!Comment

Re: Several Pacers Involved In Gun Fight
This is from someone who has a very close connection to the team, take it for what it is worth
If all these facts are accurate, here's the sequence of events from the players perspective:
- the players agree to go to a friend-of-a-friend's private "after party" with a large group of people
- they show up a little early when the club is still open to the public
- trouble starts up with certain clientelle
- the players try to leave
- confrontation continues outside
- Jackson is assaulted (bad enough to need stitches)
- His assailants get into a car
- Jackson pulls a gun and shots are fired as he's run down by his assailants' car, throwing him onto the hood
- the car speeds off to who knows where
- mayhem - people scrambling - people coming to Jackson's aid.
- the players all stay where they are, wait for the cops to come, give statements, show permits and cooperate completely including agreeing to searches
- a small bag of pot is found in Tinsley's car, it's origins unknownComment
