OMG the world is ending cause players can't wear sweatbands above their elbow! I would almost say this is a race thing with you guys making it out like stern is singling out black players, but if it's a rule for all of them what the hell is the big deal? It's a friggen sweatband for heavens sake. Until he starts to actually do something to HARM a player then lay off. I know plenty of high school coaches who don't allow sweatbands at all, why don't you crucify them?

If it's not a big deal then what is the reason for taking it out, especially when there have been no rules for this stuff since the nba has existed.

Well I'm sure when you goto work at McDonalds they make you wear a certain outfit right? Same system applies to millionaires who play basketball. Hell if Stern wants them to wear clowns suits while they play to ENTERTAIN us, then so be it, you guys make too much out of this and I could very EASILY go into depth of why you guys do this crap, but it would be against TOS. Getting all pissy over a sweatband, what has this world come to.

And to get to more of the question you asked, it prolly is for image, but so what. Is it really so surprising Stern is catering to the mass audience who pays the majority of the bills, which in turn pays the players salaries. Great business sense IMO. Why don't you get mad at nintendo for catering to kids and families while you're at it?

I don't care about nintendo, they same people have been watching the games for years and now all of a sudden an arm band or a leg covering is so detrimental to the league that he bans it. You tell me what's the reason for it. Nobody cared about it in the "glory days" of the nba but now all of a sudden it's an issue.

LOL ratings and attendance have gone down for the last couple of years, yeah Stern needs to clean up the NBA's image. So let him do his job.

Which has nothing to do with elbow pads and headbands. I could see him making players wear suits since for some reason certain people feel threatened by players who wear certain clothes but changing what they wear on the court, when it has nothing to do with any kind of image and is not a reason for why people don't watch the games is ridiculous.

LOL you think it's because people feel threatened by the way someone dresses? LMAO, it's cause they are paid millions and they should dress like the professionals they are, not some crack dealer on the corner. The NBA needs an overhaul and it'll be for the good of the game. That's why a player like Nash is celebrated not cause he's white like I have heard some people say, but because he's all that's right with the game of basketball, unlike say an Iverson (and no I'm not saying Iverson because of the tats or the rows) who is selfish, and a me first player. The whole practice situation is a perfect example, HE may think he doesn't need to practice cause he's so good but even if he is the legend that he thinks he is, then why not practice to make your TEAM better? Oh that's right it's cause he doesn't care. You'll never hear Nash say PRACTICE! PRACTICE?! We're talking about practice. There are far too many boneheads in the NBA that quite frankly shouldn't even be playing. And if their boss wants them to wear certain clothes or to not wear certain clothes they should be more than happy to oblige, because realistically what would a majority of those guys be doing if they couldn't play a professional sport?

Frankly, I wish Stern would stop banning crap like this not because of it's necessity or non-necessity, but for the simple fact that the same damn discussion appears everytime it occurs.

Alright...lol you tell me the last time you've seen a drug dealer wear an armband over their elbow, or tights.

No people don't like Nash because he has no accessories...People like Nash because he is unselfish, never opens his mouth about anybody, plays to win the game...etc etc. I have never seen someone say "Man I respect that guy Nash for not wearing an armband over his elbow."

You tell me what is so wrong about wearing an armband over your elbow...you tell me who that is harming and I will agree. And it just doesn't stop.

I play ball outside, and I wear long socks, nice shoes, and fingerbands over my middle finger.

I wear long socks just to stop and occasional breeze, I wear nice shoes just because I can, and I wear fingerbands because it reduces the chance of jamming my finger when grabbing a board.

I am sure that players wear most of their accessories for a reason. Iverson wears the sleeve to cover up his tattoos, some said the tights help the blood flow, headbands keep the sweat from getting in your eye, which if that does happen it burns. Also I am sure Ben Wallace used to wear the fingerbands for the same reason.

Also some of it might be for luck, some players might put a band over their elbow, get a triple doubles and say...well that's going there every day. A lot of athlethes are superstitous, that may seem farfethecd to some but comeon... there have been worse...look at players with special FT shots.

The point is, there is a reason for everything, and there is NO point for banning a simple band over an elbow.

You talk about uniforms...why do we have jerseys than? That is your uniform. You should be able to do whatever you want outside of modifying your jersey. What about Jordan and his long shorts? What about Rodman and his obvious cry for attention. What about Pippen?

It can't be about guys trying to stand out, because surely guys like Kareem stood out with his extra long wristbands and goggles.

My problem is, banning something this small you have to ask what is next...

No I am just talking about your argument in general.

But I saw what you said about Iverson and that is the general public of him, yet the guy puts his body on the line, goes out there and gives his all every night, and no he isn't going to be the guy who distributes the ball everywhere...doesn't matter that is a different subject.

I am going agaisnt your views that taking off the armband makes you look more professional on the court...

I was actually talking about the off court dress code, armbands are really so stupid to argue about, who cares? Their boss doesn't want them wearing them, it should be a non issue. They can serve a purpose, but there is no reason to have then above the elbow except for the "fashion statement". I really feel that alot of players try to push the limit like little children just to see what they can get away with and to gather attention for themselves, cause as we all know most pro athletes have huge egos that need to be fed. And yeah I did imply that Iverson and quite honestly alot of NBA players dressed like a common crack dealer before the dress code was put in, prove me wrong.
