The best point guard tandem in the NBA.

    Is in Toronto.

    but that's besides the point...

    read this.

Calderon wasn't expected to start with T.J. Ford coming back from an ankle injury after a four-game absence. Ford though, seeing the way the team was playing with Calderon starting at the point, told coach Sam Mitchell before the game that he was ready to go but he still felt Calderon should start.

that's great to see. i used to think that TJ was a selfish guy in some ways. He realizes that Jose Calderon has been playing like a top 10 point guard the past few weeks and is willing to settle his ego down and do what's best for the team.

Not too many athletes nowadays will do that. Kudos to T.J.

Wow, I haven't seen much of Jose this season so I can't really call you out on this.. but top 10? And do you mean tandems like the starter and then the backup? Because Dallas, Charlotte (when healthy), and the Clipps have some quality at the PG position.

My top ten PG's off the top of my head (in no order):
      Nash
      Kidd
      Paul
      Parker
      Billups
      D. Williams
      Gilbert
      Kirk
      Baron
      Ford/Felton
Still have Iverson, Terry, Bibby, Cassell (he definitely is when healthy).
Jose maybe in the top 20? Doesn't really matter, since you said "past two weeks" but I just immedietly thought, "no way Jose is playing top 10 ball".

tadem would mean 2, so starter and backup.

            I think Nash/Whoever is better than Ford/Calderon.

I don't understand why Harris never gets love, but holding everything constant, I will take Terry/Harris over anyone. I actually like Calderon more than Ford.

I was actually going to post this myself as his back up is supposedely Barbosa, but as mentioned below Jason Terry and Devin Harris deserve mention, but I think Nash is superior to either of them and Barbosa is no slouch himself.

I'd take Nash and his sister over TJ and Calderon.

Tonight, Calderon with 14 points, 5 assists and 2 turnovers with the start, and TJ came off the bench for 4 points and dropped 10 dimes to go with just one turnover in just 17 minutes. Nice to get that kind of production from a legitimate tandem (not like Nash/Barbosa or Hinrich/Gordon and even Terry/Harris where one of them plays as a 2).

I think in a year or two the Nets will certainly be in this conversation with Kidd/Williams if Kidd doesn't decline that much.

I know this reeks of homerism but i've seen enough of Calderon to say this guy will be in the top 5 PGs in the league by this time '09. The guy minimizes his mistakes as he goes along, knows how to adapt his style of play to the situation and has a great chemistry with his teamates.

I agree with Vince that this PG tandem is indeed one of the best in the NBA right now.

I'm pretty sure Nash/Barbosa counts as the Suns tandem, so I'd take that, even though Leandro is more of a shoot first guy, but Ford/Calderon is definitely up there.

                              I agree SPTO....

Calderon is blossoming before our eyes. The guy has amazing vision combined with blazing speed and more passion for the game than I've seen in a while. I love those games where he hits the floor a half a dozen times trying to get to the hoop.
