Re: The best point guard tandem in the NBA.
I know this reeks of homerism but i've seen enough of Calderon to say this guy will be in the top 5 PGs in the league by this time '09. The guy minimizes his mistakes as he goes along, knows how to adapt his style of play to the situation and has a great chemistry with his teamates.
I agree with Vince that this PG tandem is indeed one of the best in the NBA right now.
Veterans Steve Nash, Jason Kidd, Chauncey Billups, and AI should all still be around.
And what about Gilbert Arenas, Baron Davis, Andre Miller, Mike Bibby and Jason Terry?
Youngsters Deron Williams, Chris Paul, Raymond Felton, Kirk Hinrich, Tony Parker, Luke Ridnour, Shaun Livingston, TJ Ford and Jameer Nelson, will only continue to get better.Comment

No i'm serious. He's not gonna put up eye popping numbers that's for sure but he's going to be one of the most well rounded PGs in the league. At least he'll be one of the few traditional style PGs around that's for sure.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: The best point guard tandem in the NBA.
Toronto is second in the league in assists.
Jose could easily be top 10 in assists if he started.
Have you watched him play? Flat out, he doesn't turn the ball over. During his hot streak he's had many many games where he's had 10 assists and maximum 1 or 2 turnovers.
And people, when I say tandem, I mean tandem, so just saying you'd take Nash and his sister over Tj and Jose is just an easy cop-out.
Maybe i overexaggerated, but the Raptors have one of the best tandems in the league.
Anyway, the point of the post was to mention TJ's unselfishness.Comment

And no, I don't see Toronto play, but I am big fan of Jose. When I bought NBA 2K7 I was really surprised how poorly he was rated.
I like the combo, but neither is really great enough to making them the best or one of the close to best. They are both good point guards but nothing amazing.Comment

I'd go with Harris and Terry ... they work so well together that they actually can start in the same lineup. Cant beat thatComment

Re: The best point guard tandem in the NBA.
You're making it really hard for me to root for Toronto. It's blatant homerism. Everyday Toronto gets a new thread. This team is barely over .500 so big deal.
I know you guys are exicted with your teams season, but come on already.Comment

Re: The best point guard tandem in the NBA.
In my opinion, a great Eastern Conference story, if that is possible these days.
Also, you gotta remember that Toronto is a huge city with a lot of posters on this board. It always skews things a bit.
And just to update you...
Today vs. Clips
Ford/Calderon - 29 points, 17 assists!
Watch some Raptor games if you can- they play with a lot of heart and are totally unselfish.Comment

Re: The best point guard tandem in the NBA.
Anyone who's saying they aren't close to the top in tandems don't see raptor games.

Which is why I thank Jebus that the NHL community at OS is so small because if it was bigger and more popular you'd see Leafs fans stinking it up to high heaven. They'd be painted with the same brush as the Cowboys fans on this board.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club
