I dont think Carter should get booed. The fans should have voted for Jordan instead of Vince to start the game. That would be screwed up if they booed him. They are saying, "We want you to start in the AS game but now that you didnt give up that spot to jordan, we hate you." I hope this makes sence...

Despite being a hardcore Carter fan, I realize the error in his ways... but how can you NOT see why he's doing what he's doing? I mean, I understand and in some ways support the arguments against him, but what is he to do? Surly he can't step down from his position as a starter... for many reasons.

He is one of the top vote-getters for the NBA all-star game... meaning... A LOT OF FREAKING PEOPLE LIKE HIM. You think his image is bad now? Imagine how it would look if he disappointed the majority of the NBA audience. I actually feel sorry for him, because he for the most part can't win in this situation. If he doesn't offer Jordan a spot and/or refuse to play because of his lack of participation this year, he will be hated by all sports-heads and analysts and so-called "SERIOUS" fans of the NBA. And if he does in fact do so, he will lose a portion of the respect he gets from all the fans that voted him in. His only winning option, which I'm glad he took, is to start in the A-S game. How does he win in this situation? Easy... he has to step up and prove that he deserves all-star recognition, and I think he will.

On another note, don't go about saying that he is a selfish, cocky bastard with no class because that is obviously not the case. As stated earlier in this thread, why should Carter give his spot up to the man that has ragged on his *** throughout his tenure as an NBA player? Cocky? Maybe... but pride? Most definitely.

And don't get me started on Iverson and McGrady. As much as I truly respect T-Mac and AI, their actions were just low. T-Mac, as we all know, is oh-so-humble when it comes to his cousin, and anything related to the Raptors (sarcasm, duh). Yeah he's a good guy... but... he always tries to prove something (audacity) and upstage Carter for whatever reason. Yeah, it's okay on the court, but a cheap tactic to win over the media and take a shot to Carter? Please. And look who else jumped the press bandwagon... AI of all people. Don't even mention 'class' in the same sentence with this guy's name. He's obviously doing it for recognition. Just because he made a private phone call, it's like anyone wouldn't have known in the end... Man I can't wait to see who else wants to get in on this empty glory.

And lastly... acknowledging the fact that Carter doesn't deserve to start the game... does JORDAN? Don't brand me with Jordan-***** just yet, I do think he's the best ever. But the season of 2002-2003, has Jordan shown that he deserves a starting position either? NO! Just because he has revolutionized the game does not mean he should steal the spotlight of young up-and-comers that have produced far more than he has this year. Yeah, glory, respect, blah blah blah... I'm sure he has more than enough of that and he knows it (he did turn down both offers didn't he?) so he's humble (and aware) enough to know that his game isn't on the same level as the rest of the starters.

Even with all of this in mind, why do people keep talking about it? Even Jordan himself admits that there is no wrong at all in this situation. Look it up on ESPN.com. Just because you hate Carter doesn't give you the justification to blindly knock on him for this.

Will Carter get booed? Maybe. Will he succumb to all the pressure? Who knows. His focus has been unstable for a while. I would love to see Carter step up and prove his worth though. You know he has what it takes.

Why are people doggin Vince Carter?

He knows he is not deserving, but the FANS picked him! That means alot of people outhere want to see him play. He didn't give up his spot, so what???
THE FANS DIDN'T VOTE FOR MJ!!! THEY DIDN'T WANT HIM TO START EVEN THOUGH IT'S HIS LAST YEAR!!! DEAL WITH IT!!!! MOVE ON!! GEEEZZZ!!!!
MJ has no problem with this, but some people can't let it go. I mean Micheal himself said: "It's a Catch-22,'' Jordan said. "If he gives up his spot, some fans will be disappointed. Even me accepting Tracy's or Allen's spot would make fans look bad. That's not the way it's meant to be. Keep it the way it is. There's no bad person in this whole scenario.''

What would have been different if Vince offered his spot? He would have said no too!!
