    As Im watching KG tonight

In the clutch and with his team down

The guy is fading. He isn't demanding the ball. He's getting blown by on defense with no effort to stop easy layups.

The last 5 minutes he's just staring at his opponent shoot, while on offense he's either getting the ball denied from him from a guard, or he's widely passing the ball around the perimeter, and they aren't even doubling him.

Why? They aren't because he isn't even demanding the ball. I've just watched Trenton Hassell in 2 minutes shoot more than KG has the entire 5 minutes, which was 1fga.

This seems like a man no looking to take things into his own hands, no matter how much he screams and yells, and he's actively NOT looking for the ball even though his team needs him.

In these kinds of games his stats come up as empty numbers. I'm a huge fan of KG but man that 120 million dollar salary aint worth aiding in crippling the team like this.

That's the story of his career and why he is one of the most overrated palyers in the league. When the chips are down he puts his tail between his legs and runs, always has and always will. He's a classic 3 quarter player.

I saw this in him YEARS ago, all show, no go. It's not the players around him that make it a bad team, it's him.

I believe its more of the offensive Minnesota runs, KG does a lot screening and they shoot alot jump shots as a team. I didn't have a problem with KG game tonight plus Ricky Davis had the hot hand going tonight..

You can't say that KG is ridicoulousy overrated. The man has practically averaged 12 rebounds every year in his carreer and single handedly got hi team to the playoffs it's just he has to much expectation to live with. People don't recognize thats hes old now.

i dont think KG gives a **** about winning. All he wants to do is collect his check and get his credit for being such a good player on a bad team. He doesnt have any pressure with Minnesota. Perhaps that is why he doesnt want to leave the Wolves.

No offense to Rickey because he seems to want to win games, but he isn't the franchise player.

I saw KG setting high screens and thinking what is he doing, and why is he allowing guards to deny him the ball 1 on 1.

He wasn't even looking for a shot and it amazes me that he hasn't realized what he should be doing in that situation.

This man is 7 feet tall with amazing talent. In crunch time you go hard and that = pressure on the defense.

Right now, in the clutch, teams have no reason to feel worried about Minny besides their jumpshooters because KG looks like a man wanting the game to hurry up and end hopnig someone besides himself makes the plays.

I like KG and its sad. All of a sudden his yelling and pumping and excitement disappear. He has a hollow look in his eye.

Out of all the HS-to-pros players, KG is the only one I would say was really hurt by skipping college. With his size and skillset, he probably would have dominated the NCAA and perhaps learned how to win. Its pretty sad.

All is not lost though...if Garnett can end up alongside an Alpha personality (Kobe, Gil, etc...) before he retires, I could easily see him getting a few 'chips under his belt.

All isn't lost. Just with him on this team it is with his salary.

I know there is an early termination clause in his contract this summer, but I dont know if it belongs to him or the team.

I'm almost certain it's his option.. I'm looking it up right now.

OK it's definitely his option.. but there seems to be conflicting reports as to whether it's in 2007 or 2008. Hoopsworld has an article claiming 2008
"Perhaps the 2007 plan has been cast by the wayside for 2008 when players like LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Kevin Garnett may be unrestricted free agents (Garnett has an early termination option in 2008, not in 2007 as recently misreported by ESPN Insider). "

                        While RealGM says 2007

Ridiclous statement. KG has been in numerous interviews on ESPN and TNT where he was emotional talking about winning games. That to me shows he cares. Plus his emotion he displays on the court shows that as well. The reason his teams haven't done well is because the talent around him is not good. When he finally got some talent (Cassel & Chokewell) around him he took his team to the western conference finals. KG is the case of a great player with no sidekick. Until T'Wolves upgrade talent it will always be the case.

he doesnt know how to take over and close games. simple as that. he does everything else well except that. thats why when sam cassell was with them, sam was the one to take over and take shots at the end when they counted most.

I think KG emotionally divorced himself from Minnesota and is just going through the motions now. I bet if he goes to another team, especially a contender, his attitude and play will change.
