If you were a GM...would you prefer the 1 or 2 pick in the draft?

Okay, normally this question would be ridiculous.

However, the more I think about...the more I just cannot decide who I'd pick out of Oden or Durant.

The GM who gets number one is going to have to pick between them...

AND he's going to have years of people second guessing him...countless hours of "did you see that the guy who you didn't pick just won a ring? just scored 30? just led his team to the playoffs? just did this? just did that?" etc etc etc etc...

Meanwhile, the GM who gets the second pick is going to relax and simply take the guy remaining. No pressure.

He gets to sit back and enjoy watching a potential superstar turn his club around. Let's face it, if you get Oden or Durant...you're going to be happy.

I don't know...this may be one year where the number 2 pick is the best to get.

#1 pick...and would be Oden. He could change a game on both offense and defense. He's not Duncan or Olajuwon and may not even reach that level, but still...

The NBA is such an up and down league nowadays though. I am not 100% sure Odem is going to be suited...and it's not like he has a tonne of post moves. Great shot blocker though.

Duran though...man, I can see this kid being a taller T-Mac type player one day. He could be anything.

I feel like whoever gets the 1 pick will HAVE to take Oden...due to the hype.

The guy who gets number 2 may get the better player.

The NBA is such an up and down league nowadays though. I am not 100% sure Odem is going to be suited...and it's not like he has a tonne of post moves. Great shot blocker though.

Duran though...man, I can see this kid being a taller T-Mac type player one day. He could be anything.

I don't think your giving Oden enough credit here. He is as athletic as a pure center get get in this day and age. And he can hit that hook shot from about 10 feet with either hand. Don't let the first few rounds of the NCAA's fool you, he does more than block shots.

The fact remains any of the bottom 6 teams will need a Center, and there aren't gonna be any as good as Oden in free agency for years to come.

At the 2 or 3 spots, Durrant will be a stud, but you can still find a tallent to fill that position.

Think about it like this, the 6 bottom teams in the NBA

Memphis
Boston
Charlotte
Milwaukee
Atlanta
Seattle

All of thoes teams could use Oden more than Durrant. The only exception is the Bucks but who would you rather have; Oden or Bogut playing your 5spot?

If the Bucks get the # 1 pick they can trade Bogut for something great, or even trade Charlie V and keep Bogut and have two seven footers in there front court. Either way it would beat having Durrant-Charlie-Bogut in your front court.

This is not to take away from Durrant, but I think Oden is the #1 choice and whoever takes him should not even look back.

thats true.. but 7'0 will keep coming. oden has shown me he can be great defensively. but offensively he has alot to work on.

Durant is what 6'9 /6'10 with his skill set. Right NOW. thats a rare talent.

If the Celtics have the number 1 pick they beter pick Oden. If they could get someone like him to go along with Big Al and Pierce . He could completely turn around the Celtics franchise. He is the perfect player to go along side Big Al.

Durant is a great player but it's just harder to find seven footers that can move like Oden and who are great on defense. I wouldn't be upset if the C's end up gettin Durant though, they would just need to trade away some players to make room for him (sorry Gerald...).

yea sure trade gerald just like you trade joe johnson. that sure worked out right? now i know i dont watch alot celtics games. but the game i have watch gerald has been very impressive.

Wouldn't be because of the hype. It would be for the fact that rarely do true stud big men come about. Perimeter players come and go, but someone like Oden makes the game much easier for your team.

for this years draft I'd like to have the number pick if everyone they expect to come out does. I'd have very high trade bait with that pick as seems most people like Oden or Durant.

It really doesnt matter this year, because the celtics would take oden and memphis would take durant regardless if they got the 1 or 2 pick. The only wildcard is the 4th worst team getting the first pick. which would suck for both boston and memphis

Well I wouldn't want to trade Gerald but there aren't enough minutes to go around for Green, West, Pierce, Allen, Szczerbiak, and Durant. Especially with Doc handling the lineups.

Oden will be the #1 pick. I guarantee it. Oden is a franchise center that comes along every 10 years or so. Durant is basically a tall shooting guard.
