I'd make it like the NFL, 6 teams get in from each conference with the top 2 getting first round byes. Too many teams make the playoffs. I'd also change the first round back to a best of 5, and maybe the 2nd round as well.

I dont think any coach wants his team going on not playing compettive ball for a good week or more. That can be just as muhc a negative as a positive.

Cut the number of playoff entries to the top four seeds (by record, regardless of division title) of each conference.

Having 82 games to eliminate less than half the league from playoff contention is ridiculous. More teams make the playoffs, then miss them, which altogther defeats the purpose.

I like the idea of only 4 teams for each conference. I actually just came into this thread to post this exact idea.

Only thing I have to add is they should get rid of the divisons. Just have 2 15 team conferences.
