Little things from the past that you wish would come back.....

There are alot of little things(and some big things) missing from the NBA today that I would love to see come back.

First are stars in the dunk contest. I want to see Lebron and D-Wade square off with J-Rich and Vinsanity. That would make all-star weekend for me again.

The second one and by far the BIGGEST one is new nicknames. C'mon.....T-Mac, D-Wade, AI.......show some originality please. I was watching some old youtube vids and it was awesome to reminisce on "the human highlight film", "the reign man", 'Magic", "Mailman", and "the Admiral". That was awesome.

I agree with the dunk contest deal, but the nicknames are a thing of the past. I know they're nice in retrospect, but they're cheesy as hell. If people started using those type of names today, they'd sound ridiculous.

I'd like to see players actually work on improving their skills and not always fall back on their physical talent.

I'd like to see players take the time to actually learn how to use the back board. What ever happened to that? It's the unblockable shot.

I'd like for the league to focus less on individual players, and more on teams and rivalries. What are the big must see rivalries? Used to be Celtics/Lakers, Celtics/Sixers, Celtics/Pistons (dam the Celtics were good), Bulls/Pistons, Bulls/Knicks, I mean they were must see even if you hated both teams. Now it's Kobe/Shaq. Where are the rivalries?

I'd like the playoffs to not have a game every 3 days in a playoff series. IF you actually have a good series going, you need to keep the interest going or else these days people lose interest quickly. 3 games in a week? That's ridiculous. The playoffs start to get the grind feeling where the average fan just loses interest.

And finally, it will always be the most obvious one, yet people will intellectualize it til they're blue in the face....Players should not be allowed in the NBA until 3 years after their HS graduation, just like the NFL. The minute you do this, I promise you 5 years down the road your product will improve dramatically. Period.

People are constantly saying that the rest of the world has 'caught up' or even surpassed the American basketball player. I'm sorry, but it's BS. The American basketball player is still the most talented in the world. What has happened is that the rest of the world has surpassed us in SKILL. The gym rat is dead in American basketball.

I shudder to think how much better some of these NBA stars would've been with 3 or 4 years playing for a North Carolina and learning the game from a legendary coach, with other team mates that are viewed as equals and learning the finer points of the games cuz they had to to stay on the team. By the time you reach the NBA it's too late to learn team work, and how to win.

Nah, I would like to see these called more by the announcers. Back in the day growing up, I identified with nicknames and it drew me to the game alot more. It may be cheesy or outdated but dammit I want it back lol.

About the hard fouls, I would say good riddance. You think people complain about the league being "thuggish" now, try allowing the fouls they did in the 80's and 90's and watch that PR nightmare escalate.

Freaking refs to make equal calls and players rising about the calls. The refs are trying to hard to get on teams it's ridiculous.

As opposed to the flopping that goes on now. If Wade wants to drive the lane and draw a foul, let him, but let the defense get their foul in.
