Congrats to Dirk, but I think Nash deserved it. Obviously all of our views are now tainted by the postseason, but I think getting Dirk's performance in the playoffs will ruin this MVP for him.

Should of been Nash again but congrats to Dirk. It's the first time a European player has won it and Dirks a good guy. We just need to take him to south Dallas and toughen him up a bit.

Why are we congratulating? It's not even official yet.

are the playoffs almost over already? I was under the impression that the second round just started...fyi, Nash's playoff verdict for this year is still out. He beat the Lakers, big deal.

anyway, it doesnt matter. Dirk outplayed Nash in the playoffs last season and dominated the Suns but it didnt matter because its a regular season award, right Suns fans?

Nash probably doesnt give a crap about the MVP this year anyway. I hope Nash finally gets over that hump and wins the NBA finals. Hell, i hope he just makes it to the finals this season finally. It will be good for the NBA if he does. and Nash's window is closing. If he doesnt do it this year or next year, he probably wont. Dirk's time is getting shorter also, but he's 5 years younger than Nash and plays a position that usually allows for a longer career. Hopefully, both players will have championships before they are done playing.

I bet everyone that voted for Dirk wants their vote back. What a crummy MVP choice.

It's not who won and lost, it's how each played. If Nash loses the SA series with the way he's playing, he still played great. Dirk got embarrassed by the Warriors.

Good selection. The MVP is based on the REGULAR season so I don't know why some are making a big deal about the selection. His team had 67 wins and he had a great year. Dirk didn't play well in the playoffs but that doesn't factor into MVP voting. It was a toss up between Dirk and Nash and could've gone either way.

I disagree. The Suns will only get better, as Stoudimaire isn't even in his prime yet, and they'll likely have a top 5 pick in the NBA Draft this season.

If Dirk was so valuable, it would have made hardly a difference that a lot of others didn't step up in the series against the Warriors (btw, I think Jason Terry played the best basketball for the Mavs in their short post-season.
Honestly, the sportswriters/media who vote on the award show no consistency whatsoever for the MVP standards. It seems like the criteria always shifts every season to justify a certain candidate's worthiness and to fit the bill of a particular sportswriter's agenda.

A few years ago, Shaq won it because he was the best player in the league, Nash won it last year because he "meant the most" to his team, and this season, Dirk wins it because he's the best player on the best team. Until the media shows a shrewd of consistency on the voting criteria for the MVP, the award is more or less bunk.

I also like it how they used to give excuses saying a certain player isn't MVP worthy because they don't play good enough defense. Now they threw that criteria out the window and look at offense only.....

They should do it like Hockey and have a few MVP awards with clearly defined criteria. One for the most valuable player to their team (i.e. who means the most to their teams success), and one who is the best player in the league (i.e. who had the best individual statistical season). For the former I'd give it to Nash followed by McGrady and LeBron. For the latter, Kobe, then LeBron.

Big deal? FYI, Dallas didn't even make it out of the 1st.

You're right. But you CONSTANTLY bring up the past and playoffs from previous years so what the hell are you talking about, right ZB? It was a Dallas fan that said that.

I admit though, seems pretty awkward that the MVP is sitting at home.
