"• Speaking of Bowen, Mike in New York passed this story along: "I was in Vegas for a bachelor party last August during the week of the U.S. vs. Puerto Rico exhibition game. We all stayed at the Wynn where almost every basketball player was staying and learned three things: Dwyane Wade really takes care of his dad financially; Clyde Drexler is the coolest guy to play the minimum at the $25 blackjack table; nobody likes Bruce Bowen. Late one night, almost every blackjack table had multiple current or retired NBA players at them and huge crowds to go along with them. That is, except for the table with Bruce Bowen and only Bruce Bowen playing at it. All Bruce's teammates on the USA team were his regular NBA opponents and it was clear that none of them wanted anything to do with him."

But to beat me, he's going to have to kill me. And to kill me, he's gonna have to have the heart to stand in front of me. And to do that, he's got to be willing to die himself. I don't know if he's ready to do that." -

Re: Apparently no one likes Bruce Bowen...
I'm pretty sure Bowen could give a damn about what they think of him.
Was he even drafted? Like dude said, he's got 2 rings. That's 2 more than Patrick Ewing, Charles Barkley and many HOFs.
I'm pretty sure if Kobe was healthy and on that same team, he wouldn't be Mr. Popular amongst his peers.
I'm sure Bowen is pretty comfortable with that. You're not gonna see him sipping Lattes with Ray Allen anytime soon.Comment

Re: Apparently no one likes Bruce Bowen...
lol, this just reeks of high school girls ish. let's all get together and not like bruce bowen!
who cares. i'm sure he's popular enough in his own locker room. no one dislikes lebron because he's not in the business of making someone's life a living hell every spring while his team knocks you out of the playoffs.Comment

Re: Apparently no one likes Bruce Bowen...
So, the "Bad Boys" are allowed to try to hurt people intentionally, but Bowen isn't because Detroit was "authentic".
Get out of here with that.NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers
NBA: Dallas Mavericks
MLB: Texas Rangers
NHL: Dallas Stars
NCAA: Alabama Crimson Tide
University of North Texas '14

Re: Apparently no one likes Bruce Bowen...
It was a tough league back then with different rules and you knew with what you where dealing with. they didn't had knives or anything they where playing physical basketball. Pistons and their type of play emerged MJ to the basketball monster that he was and I thank them for that.Comment

What. Rick Mahorn slamming MJ on the court. The 80 Pistons had some chippy players and Bowens would fit the Pistons like a glove.
Apparently no one likes Bruce....except his team mates and the guy who makes championship rings.Comment

Re: Apparently no one likes Bruce Bowen...
they would like him more if he played on their teams. most other teams would love to have bowen , or a similar player on their team.
imo, it is more entertaining to watch physical players like him and bell(pho) as opposed to guys waving at the offensive guy as he drives by them for a dunk.Comment

Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment
