      Excellent for Seattle.
      Horrible for Phoniex.

I hope Seattle will buyout Kurt Thomas and allow him to become a FA. I'd love to have him as the backup to Dirk and playing some center as well. he's exactly what we need.

      I love the Suns. hahaha

Not every team is fortunate enough to have an owner who has little regard for the salary cap.

The Suns give up 2 first round picks to get rid of Thomas? I'm sure they could have found a better deal somewhere else. I don't think Thomas is bad and he played Duncan about as well as possible in the playoffs. Even though he didn't really fit the Suns style, he could have been useful in the playoffs.
Just wait till Arsenal moves into Emirates Stadium.

Relax, there is still many months for the management to make more moves.

I love this trade for the Supes!

BTW, Clay Bennett made the most obvious statement today by saying that if nothing gets done in Seattle he's trying to move the team to OK City.

            Keep the Supes here!

Was it worth it to take 8 million off the books? i dunno yet. We'll have to see if this was good or not depending if we get a nice free agent signing but i doubt it since there is no one left to sign.

Anyone know any available big men left out there? I was hoping we get PJ Brown for a lot cheaper with I think a similar player in Kurt.

                  Re: Kurt Thomas to Seattle

great moves by seattle....man presti has had a damn good start to his job.....very savvy gm he is...
what were the suns thinking really...
Kthomas was playoff insurance and their only inside stopper.
to trade him AND 2 unconditional 1st round picks for some salary cap relief....??!! wow...
what makes this even worse for the suns, is that kthomas's contract finishes this season....so thats 8 mill that wouldve come off teh suns books anyway, and they wouldve had thomas's Defense for their title run abd kept their future draft picks intact.
doesnt make sense to me...but hey....it great for all sonic fans...
so.....we thought that rashard was going for nothing...instead, its turned out we traded rashard for kthomas and 2 1st round draft picks.....nice moves sonics....
                  presti u are the man!!!!

Didn't know that part. Wow. He'll be a good asset around the trade deadline if he doesn't work out in Seattle.

Awesome stuff for the Sonics. Very happy with this deal. I just hope that they're here long enough for us to see how things turn out by the time they use that 2010 pick

i feel u seattle natives man....as i live in australia, my ties arent with the city, but the team...so it doesnt really affect me like it would u seattle guys.....i have been a diehard sonics supporter since 89....dale ellis got me into the team...and xman....it all started for me with the lakers vs celtics pc game. way back in 87... randomly picked seattle and have never looked back...
but yeah..it would be a real shame if they left seattle....i remember back in the 90s...seattle was the "coolest" city on earth...thanks to the grunge scene...kemp just added to the allure... i really hope that the city finds a way to keep the sonics....but if not....it doesnt really affect me, the sonics will always be my team, no matter where they go.

Please. There's a very big difference between having a regard for the salary cap and flat out not running a basketball franchise right. Sarver doesnt belong in the NBA, nor does he deserve to own a basketball team. If I mentioned this type of deal on the boards before it happened, PHX fans would laugh at it. Its just sad the amount of talent PHX is giving away.

Doesn't deserve to own a basketball team? Why is this? Because he is trying to look out for himself? In case you didn't realize, the NBA is a business and the point of a business is to make money for the owners. Besides the Suns are still one of the few teams to be over the cap but instead of paying Kurt Thomas what would amount to $16 million they are only paying 2 million extra for being over the cap. Its not a good move basketball wise, but then again neither of us is paying the bills. If you look back at the moves made, the Suns have practically given away every draft pick since Stoudamire or the year after him where they could have had players like Deng, Rando, Rodriguez, Splitter and not to mention players like Jones and now Thomas who could be valuable contributers. I don't agree with these moves, but again I'm not paying the bills.
