He's playing for stats, just like they want him to have the stats. At least admit you know what's going on. Mike never blew gmaes to teams that suck just to try to attain a record that Wilt, or Dr. J made. It is so obvious, that he's trying to score all of those points for a record too.

Re: Scoring Title Showdown...
Phil Jackson must be a horrible coach letting Kobe run the team how he wants. Phil lets Kobe pad his stats how he wants, right? You guys ever wonder if it's Phil trying to get Kobe into a certain style of game that will help his team win with his personel? Nah it couldn't be that, Phil wants Kobe to break all MJ's records..... Just like Phil only coached Jordan to break all the other recordsComment

Phil Jackson told Kobe to be more assertive, and who else is gonna score consistently? Shaq's not there, Fox, Fisher, and Horry have their little streaks, Walker is well...he's just there. All I can say is he's winning games and helping the Lakers for the playoffs, more than what Shaq has done this season.

Of course, if the games are close, they're no problems. And since Kobe is indeed keeping the games close and giving the Lakers a shot at the win he should be able to do whatever he wants, right?
My only beef is when Kobe said his job is to keep the Lakers close. This came after a 41 point effort (and loss) against the Celtics where he attempted 47 shots. The game before he took 13 shots, and was 1 assist away from a triple double. I wouldn't be suprised if he changes his game plan depending on how much points, rebounds, or assists he gets during the first half of games.Comment
