You can't take Pippen off the top 50, because without him MJ wouldn't have 6 rings.Comment

[quoteYou need to be comitted to the nearest hospital! Pippen is one of the greatest SF's to ever play the game and rightly deserves his spot in the top 50 players of all time. TO even suggest that little punk's like Kobe or Duncan deserves a spot in front of Pippen is an insult.
Bryant, T-Mac, Duncan etc have not done anywhere near enough to be considered on that list. Payton is the only guy to have a case. Garnett has won absolutely nothing, I like KG but 50 greatest of all time!!
You need to watch more of the players or just read more about the players that are on that list.
<hr /></blockquote><font class="post">
um, you say how garnett can't win, etc, etc. what about pippen? Has he won anythign when jordan wasn't here? In 94 he choked big time in the playoffs, and the year after jordan retired he got balled up by a young kobe bryant during the 99 playoffs. He was hurt most of 98 finals and didnt do much, 2000 finals he watched his team blow a 15 point lead and all he did was jack up one ugly three. in 2002 playoffs he CAUSED HIS OWN TEAM TO LOSE game 3. (he left horry open for a shot, then missed one free throw, then made a bad inbound pass that was intercepted).
How can you it's an insult to say Duncan is better then pippen. Duncan has been putting up numbers (better numbers then pip) for multiple years now.. so its not like its a fluke. Duncan has led his team to ONE TITLE, and has won MVP and playoff MVP. What the hell has pip won? don't give me none of this jordan stuff, cause he had his chance in 94 and he still choked in the playoffs. in 99 he choked again.
as far as i'm concern every opportunity pip had to play on his own, he has STUNKED IT UP. Yeah sure during the 94 season he had ok stats but came playoff time Toni Kukoc was the man, not him.
I mean, you can say you dont agree that duncan is better then pip, but how can you say it's an "insult". Duncan has already done alot and accomplished alot in the NBA, and this is like his... sixth or seventh season.. so its not like it can be a fluke. He has already had more individual sucess then pip ever did. And team success... pip never led his team to no title, duncan did.
so kg may not be on the list, but if the NBA make another top 50 list, duncan would for sure have a spot, and hell DUNCAN'S SPOT WOULD BE HIGHER THEN PIPPEN'S SPOT.
you gotta remember, buddy, pippen was hyped as "the second best player" in the NBA for so many years when jordan played with him. I think now we all realized that was a bunch of crap. Pippen was NEVER the secnod best player in the NBA.Comment

Al,
Great topic... although you'll never come to a consensus!
Lenny Wilkins, I believe, is one of the only - if not the only - hall of fame player and coach in the history of the game. Just because some of those guys on that list are old, doesn't mean they aren't great!
