Oh, and he only needs 14 more points to be the youngest player ever in the NBA to reach 10,000 career points. He will be 24 years and 193 days old. The youngest before him was Bob McAdoo at 25 years and 148 days old. Second was Shaq, third was MJ, and fourth was Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

Kobe has done it all this year. Making history I mean. He's had that 9 in a row 3's(NBA record at the time, now tied with Spreewell), 12 3's in a NBA game (NBA record), 9 straight games of 40+ppg (tied for 3rd with MJ, only behind Wilt Chamberlin), 13 straight games of 35+ppg (either 4th or 5th, Wilt holds all the records above him), and now he's going to get the 10,000 points. Yup, the kid has talent.


On a side note, TMac has 7,848 career points, and is on pace to get to 8,000 by the end of the year. I don't think he'll beat Kobe tho, but he might. This milestone of Kobe's won't stand too long. I forsee LeBron James stealing this rec from Kobe. Just because LeBron will probably end up on a really bad team, and have all the shots at his disposal. He'll be putting points up fast.

This youngest to 10,000 points record means nothing. Jordan was 21/22 when he came into the NBA, Kobe was 18. Of course Kobe is going to get to 10,000 before MJ or Shaq or Kareem because he came in so much earlier. IMO it's not a record. Just a stat.

I realize that. But everyone is making such a big deal about it, I thought I would just put it up too. I just find it pretty amazing that he is doing all of this in one year. He's having a great season.

So...if you look at it that way, there are no records, just stats. Perhaps Hank Aaron played more games than Babe Ruth did to get the HR record...does that make it a stat?

Let's be sensible. Kobe Bryant is having an extremely good season and irregardless of what age Jordan and other players joined the NBA, Kobe will still be the youngest with 10 000 points.
