T-Mac or do they just like him in spite of Kobe? I've had the pleasure of watching T-Mac the times I've been in 'lando and I was amazed by him for 4 years now. However, he never got any props until now. On this board there seems to be an outpouring of T-Mac support the likes I have never seen since Kobe has gone on his recent tear.

So it brought the question..... Are people fans of T-Mac because they watch him play reguarly and go to games, or is it just an option for those who hate Kobe?

This reminds me alot of Mike vs. 'Nique. People were getting tired of Jordan's perceived "selfishness" and started trying to hype up other players they really knew nothing about?

Answer fast cause this might get locked!!!

I think people`s admiration of T-Mac is genuine. No one likes him because they dislike someone else.

Something needs to be said about Kobe...
I don`t think ANYONE (call them Kobe "haters", whatever), dislikes Kobe's game. Speaking for myself, I respect what Kobe brings to the table from a talent standpoint. He has the closet "will to win" as MJ as I`ve seen from a player since Jordan last retired. I was definately impressed with how he put away the Nets in Game 4 of last year`s Finals and how he really put the West on his shoulders nearing the end of the All-Star game. I respect his game....no question.

The thing with Kobe (again speaking for myself) is that I DON`T LIKE HIM AS A PERSON. Sounds harsh but and general but it`s true.
    - he has no identity IMO. He tries to walk, talk and act like MJ.
    - he`s a selfish player IMO. I couldn`t stand MJ in his prime as well.

Call it hating (come up with a better term people- you`ve stretched it out far enough) if you will. It`s not Kobe`s game, it`s his attitude. Alot of people don`t like Iverson`s attitude. They can`t deny his game though. Same thing.
Iverson was damn near crucified for going after the scoring title when he entered the league. Kobe is praised and claimed to be the best ever after doing the same thing.

Once Kobe humbles himself a bit, he may gain more respect as a person. And the constant comparisons between Kobe and T-Mac is because, IMO, T-Mac doesn`t have that "air" about him (the identity issues, selfishness and humility).

-Not every player comes into the league at 18 yrs. old and demands a trade on draft day refusing to play for a team.
-Not every player can tell their coach that they "coached stupidly".

It`s not his game; it`s his attitude.

    peace

I actually agree with everything bigeastbumrush had to say.

I hate him as a person outside of basketball. Mainly though its his on court demeanor that I can't stand.

You know if you ask enough of the people that don't like him will say the same thing. I know BEB was speaking for himself, but he's right in most if not all of those instances. This is also why I say no matter what Kobe does, he'll always be measured to MJ. Also as the guy trying to be like him, and denies it.
