I didn't say they should take a specific deal.. but they need to be scrambling and doing all they can to get help.

I agree, but it gets to a point of desperation.

Never said they shouldn't be looking for deals...but Ben Wallace?

When Kobe demanded he wanted help, the Lakers waited until they got the right deal and look where it got them. Had they scrambled like the Cavs are doing they would not be in the position they are in now. They would be a win now team with Jkidd and who knows if they still would have got Gasol. Now the Lakers are a win now team and a win later team much like the Jazz. They have Young players, great veterans, and a great coach.

Cavs should chill right now, Ben Wallace, Duhon and whoever else isn't going to make them better than the Pistons or Celtics, on paper it makes them worse.

I guess the concept of the expiring contract is hard to understand but it opens up cap room in the future so these teams can actually sign players in the offseason to improve.

Thats not even the reason they said they did it. They said they only did it for cap room, but it was really becasue the owner is trying to sell the team.

I'm sure Jerry West had a hand in it too though.

Update.. if we ditch Hughes, I'm more for the Wallace deal.

Chad Ford: (2:03 PM ET ) I'm getting lots of phone calls now ... sorry for delays. One source says the hold up in a Chicago-Cavs deal is that Cleveland wants Chicago to take back Larry Hughes and Drew Gooden for Ben Wallace, Joe Smith and Duhon. I can't really see the Bulls doing that. Hughes has two years, $26 million left on his contract and where do the Bulls play him?

Just heard that the Cavs are close to getting Wally Szczerbiak for Donyell Marshall and Ira Newble

Well, once the team is sold to an owner that wants to keep the team, that open cap room can be used by that owner to pursue some guys in the offseason. I understand that they're trying to sell the team, but in the end, it comes to the same thing cause after the team is sold, they still have that flexibility.

I'd take Duhon over Gooden

But right now...i'd take Hughes and the way he is playing over Wallace.

What's the situation with the contract lengths? Hughes and Wallace are both terrible contracts, I would take the one that expires first.
