GSW, Rockets and the Nuggets...who is going to miss out?

These are 3 really good 'second tier' teams...who'd all be a chance to make the eastern conference finals.

The way things stand now, one of them will miss out on even making the playoffs.

I think GS will get there...and I think Denver has too much depth to not make it...

That leaves Houston as the team missing out. Yao and Mac should guarantee they get there though...so how could they miss out? And the team is in top form lately.

But someone has to miss out...

So...who is it going to be?

I think nuggets will be out unless tmac/yao stop playing well. It's so hard to say, the western conference is out of control right now.

Hopefully the Rockets. Sorry, but I just hate watching this team play.

And you know what I would not be any bit shocked if NO went on a lil losing streak and missed the playoffs by a game or two.

Any team in west could hit a slump and fall out, they are all that close. No team is safe. SA or Dallas are just as likely to miss as the Rox or Warriors, IMO. If I was betting, I'd say G-State just misses on some kind of tie-break.

Yeah, this is true. Blazers were in it about 2 weeks ago, lost what 4 games and not any more. Any team could get a key injury lose 4-5 games and have to climb back up.

Don't see the Rockets missing it. If it is out of those 3 I've gotta say the Nuggets. I just don't see a Adelman led team missing the playoffs or a Nellie led team missing it either...now a Karl led team...the team has underacheived so it wouldn't be a suprise.

Re: GSW, Rockets and the Nuggets...who is going to miss out?

Believe it or not, looking at the schedule, I think BOTH the Rockets AND Golden State make it.

The Rockets have 12 games overall against Top 14 teams (the top 9 in the west and top 5 in the East), including 5 home and 7 road contests.

The Warriors have 12 games also, 4 home and 8 on the road.

Denver has 16, 8 at home, and 8 on the road.

The remaining schedule against solid teams:

                    Houston
Home: Den, NO, LAL, Bos, Phx
Road: NO, Dal, NO, GS, Phx, Den, Utah.

                    Golden State

                    Home: Tor, Hou, LAL, Den
Road: Orl, Phx, LAL, Den, SAS, Dal, NO, Phx.

                    Denver
Home: Det, Phx, SAS, Tor, Dal, GS, Phx, Hou
Road: Hou, Utah, SAS, Det, Tor, Phx, GS, Utah.

All three of these teams have a healthy amount of road games, and of them, only Denver has a losing record on the road. The only thing working against the Rockets is that 7 of their games are against Boston, Lakers, Hornets, and Suns.

I'm going against the grain in saying that AI and Melo will get to watch all of round 1 on TV.

                    Favorite Teams:
                    NBA: Houston Rockets
                    NFL: Tennessee Titans
                    MLB: Chicago White Sox
                    NCAA: Florida State Seminoles

It's really a shame that one team here has to miss and the 76ers, the Nets, and the Hawks all have a legitimate chance at being in the playoffs.

I said it a while back, I know CP3 is playing unbelievable basketball.. and I know they added Bonzi and James.. but I don't know if I can flip flop on this one.. I say N.O.'s. Hornets and Blazers are the two teams I see that will get absolutely JOBBED. Either way two teams are going to get it right in the pooper.

If Nash, Kobe, Ginobili, Paul, Deron, Boozer or Dirk go down, their teams could all reasonably fall out of the playoffs. Every game in the West from now on in is going to be crucial not just for playoff positioning, but to make the playoffs.

Can't disagree, if any team loses their star it could be curtains. Add Baron, T-Mac or Yao, etc.

My post was just assuming everyone is healthy

5 game difference between number 1 team and number 9 spot. I don't think you can guarantee spots for any of the teams, much less the top 6 teams. The real question should be of the Hornets, Lakers, Suns, Spurs, Nuggets, Jazz, Mavericks, Rockets, Warriors, who is going to miss out? I honestly think it's gonna be either the Nuggets or the Mavericks as much as I love AI. Seeing the Jazz going on a small losing streak wouldn't surprise me that much either. So my guess is one of those three teams.
                              MLB: New York Yankees

NFL: Detroit Lions / New York Giants
                              NCAA: UNC
