Re: T-MAC MVP?
don't count that happening out of the equation just yet:P. He's definitely not the MVP, but I stumbled onto something quite interesting today. Out of all the scoring gaurds in the league, he has the best mid range percentage by far. Bron is at 36%, Kobe is something like 38% while Tmac is at 44%, which is very good for someone not considered a shooter. I know this is random, but it just caught my attention.Comment

But to go along, I wish MVP wasn't record related but by who is most needed by their team. If that were the case then it would easily be a five man raceLast edited by dossier; 03-08-2008, 11:59 PM.Comment

Re: T-MAC MVP?
When you go on nba.com, under stats there's a section called "NBA Live 08 Hotspots." It gives you a chart of a players percentages from every section on the court, it's pretty interesting actually. James had made 2 threes all year from the right pocket sideComment

Re: T-MAC MVP?
TMac's numbers aren't good enough to win MVP, whether he deserves it or not.
He's been playing like he's always played, maybe a little bit better. It's his teammates that are really stepping up, which is why they're on the huge win streak.
I don't think it's unfair to consider him a legitimate MVP choice... but if he did win, it would be breaking a lot of "rules" in which other MVPs have been decided on (numbers, top winning %, etc.)
If any of those guys won in the list that Flyboy gave, I wouldn't have a problem with it.Comment

Re: T-MAC MVP?
I really like what I'm seeing from Tmac during this stretch.
I just hope he has enough magic left for the playoffs. I would hate to see them peak now and fizzle out (gameplay wise) when the playoffs start.
He's definately ballin out of his mind right now but, I do not see him getting MVP consideration.
This stretch has reminded alot of fans of how great they thought Tmac could be.
Injuries, supporting cast etc. have always seem to derail those hopes. Hopefully he gets his due, come playoff time.Comment

But, you gotta wonder how long he can keep up the good play. The whole team for that matter. Will Rafer revert back to his old habits? (god I hope not, because I'm really starting to like him alot!)Comment

I don't see how you got 44% and 38% for Mac and Kobe. I mean, 74% of Kobe's shots are jumpers, he makes over 45% of them. That's including 3-Point %, so his mid range jumper is likely a lot higher than that(considering he's a 34% shooter from 3).
78% of T-Macs shots are jumpers(once again, including three point percentage), he makes them at the exact same clip that Kobe does. People seem to forget that T-Mac is actually, and has been, a really good shooter from mid range. I wouldn't say he's as good as Kobe, but he's really close. Where Mac struggles(and why he has such a low FG%) is that he cannot finish anymore like he used to. If you look at any star in the league they shoot around 60-70% when they get close to the bucket. Mac shoots 57% and that's not mentioning that he shoots a lot of threes, which may bog his percentage down some.
Keep in mind, these are efficient FG%'s, not FG%...
Mac does have a little bit better of a shooting touch than Kobe from mid range(partially because not every shot is a fade-away while not looking at the basket), but the discrepancy is not 44% to 38%, more like 44% to 42-43%.
Kobe is a better three point shooter, so it evens up the numbers on the jumpshot percentages.Comment
