I'll get back on topic here: The call sucked! However, I think Caron Butler didn't get the call because he's a rookie. If it would have been a more established person i.e. T-Mac, Kobe, Iverson, ect, they would have gotten the call. I don't think it's right, but the NBA works on a "dues" system.

And Nash would put up much better numbers if (a.) He was the main option on offense as most of theses other guards are and (b.) He didn't have to share time with Van Exel ( though this is good cause Nash will be rested for the playoffs) So yeah don't post sillyness just cause you like flash over substance. Cause Marbury, Francis and Davis are flash.

They may be flash, but they are still Point Guards, and they get their team involved. So don't go saying they aren't PGs when they are.

If you play shooting guard 20 mins a night like all of those guys I listed as flash do, then they're combo guards not "true" point guards. LOL you prolly think Alstott is a full back with your logic.

You are both right. Yes, Francis, Davis, and Marbury play the point guard position. But no, they are not traditional point guards. The term "combo guard" was coined to describe exactly this fairly new type of player, who plays the point but is clearly a score-first, pass-second player.

Marbury is playing more true "point" this year than I've ever seen or ever imagined he would play. But there are still times when he's taking too many shots and not getting the rest of the team involved. Davis and especially Francis still think shoot first.

But even Payton and Kidd have their moments. Payton has been known to be selfish from time to time. Kidd has been throwing up way too many shots of late. To some extent, he's forced to because none of the other Nets are stepping up and producing points right now. But I also think some of it is that he shot very well early in the year, is in a contract year, and wants to be prove he can be a 20 PPG guy. But that isn't his game, and it's starting to catch up to him.

Thank you killspeed, you are right Starbury is playing much more like a point guard than I ever thought too. xxcimaxx you want true point guards defined huh??? Ok Nash, Stockton, Andre Miller even Scottie Pippen is more so than Francis and the like.

Alright. Francis, Marbury, and Davis aren't "true" point guards. But they still run the offense, get the team involved, and in most cases find a way to win. If you asked Marbury, Davis, and Francis to be "true" point guards, then their teams would end up losing more games than winning.
