Jonesy, you can't be saying what "if" this, or what "if" that.

It's a very "stupid" way of looking at things, in my opinion.

So are you saying that just because he is short he can't be a top 5 player? He's only about 6 feet tall and has solid averages around 28, 5 and 5, which is very good for someone his height.

You just conrtadicted yourself by adding which is very good for someone his height. Would Kobe be as effective if he was 6 feet tall.......I didn't think so.

You missed my point. My point is Iverson would be a more dominant player if he was bigger, why is that so hard to believe. If MJ was 6 feet tall instead of 6'6 he would still be a great player (like Iverson is) but he wouldn't be considered the greatest player of all time which is the current popular (if misguided) belief.

True he would be if he was taller, as a matter fact I will go as far as to say he might have been even better than Jordan if he had his height because of his quickness and speed. People seem to also neglect his jumping ability, I've seen this guy damn near glide from the freethrow line in a game!!! No one in the league can D him, he is the fastest in the league. His crossovers are deadly and no matter how good of a defender you are he will break you down one time or another. He plays both sides of the ball and always been a dependable scorer as well as a dependable defender. He just never gets his just due because of his height and his shooting percentage but you have to look at why his percentage is low and that's due to his height but he is still a CONSISTENT scorer. I do agree that he isn't a top 5 player of all-time yet, but he could be at the end of his career. But he is definetly a top 5 player in this leagure right now. And to call Shaq dumb because he said what he said is wrong. Greatness recongnizes greatness. And if Shaq feels that way about Iverson then it could be very well true, but not yet. You guys on this forum kill me, if Shaq had of said Kobe, I would of seen Kobe threads all over this forum and you guys would of thought Shaq was a genius, but because he said Iverson he's an idiot. That's a cop out and you guys know it. All those players like Pierce, Nowitski, and others are alll good in there own respects but, neither of them play D, especially like the little guy does.

That's all I got to say right now.

Re: Hey fellas you heard that, Shaq said Iverson is a top 5 player!!!

Yeah i know i may be clutching at straws but i still stand by my original comment. Iverson is great (as i've said all along) my point was simply that he would be a better all round player if he was taller. It's my opinion and i'm entitled to it even if you think it makes me look "stupid" in your eyes.

You all have an opinion and i respect that. ZigZag summed up my point perfectly when he wrote
Quote:

Shaq is a moron and Iverson is not one of the top 5 players in the game at the moment. Garnett, TD, Kobe, T-Mac, Kidd, Pierce, Nowitzki, Shaq (etc) are better than AI. Iverson plays with more heart and determination than any other player in the league and is a phenomenal talent however he is not in the top 5. The fact that he can have such a huge impact despite being so small in stature is a credit to him, but it is also the reason he isn't one of the top five players in the league. If Iverson was 6-6, 6-7 then he would be an even better defender, way better rebounder, could get better looks at the bucker which = better fg percentage and would be a better overall player.

I didn't know there were height requirements in being considered a great NBA player?Ivy is a great player no matter what his height. Period. Pierce is a good player, but there is no way I'd put him ahead of A.I. I'll give you everyone else(Kidd maybe?), but no way is Pierce ahead of A.I.
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

Good points, i suppose it not a clear cut as saying "if AI was a seven footer he would be the best ever etc etc" because of the other intangibles that come into play. However it begs the question - Is Allen Iverson's lack of height actually an advantage/asset in a league dominated by Giants?
