Re: Hey fellas you heard that, Shaq said Iverson is a top 5 player!!!

Yall are funny! Iverson not top 5 right now! That is HILARIOUS! How can you say he is not one of the top 5 right now? This guy is a winner and will do whatever to win and he shows this on the court. If you ever watched a SIXERS game and saw some of the replay's, you would see (and I know you have seen those replay's where the arrows are all from the players head onto Iverson) that at least 3 (sometimes even all 5) defenders are focused on him. If you play a light zone it is easy to stop the SIXERS. You play a light zone and cut off Iverson penetration, he has no one to kick it out to. Unfortunately his two best shooters have the SLOWEST release in the biz (Mckie and Van Horn). To do what he does at his size (yes his size is a disadvatage to be at the 2guard spot), and with that team is rediculous.

Can you imagine if he had a supporting class (this is after getting rid of the teams current superstar and putting Iverson in their place) like the Nets, Pacers, Pistons, Celtics, Bucks, Hornets, and pratically any west team (most are better anyway) and he would kill. Yet he and the SIXERS are no. 4 in the east, above alot of those teams I just mentioned.

The only player who I think does more with less like Iverson is Garnett. That is why he should get MVP (sorry, had to throw a little KG in their).

You made very good points but, Iverson does more with less talent then KG. Iverson took players who if were on other teams would be bench players as a matter of fact all of them were bench players except for Mutombo and maybe eric snow.
Dikembe Mutombo-Nets starter
Aaron McKie-fomer blazer, came off bench
Eric Snow -former sonic, came off bench
Tyrone Hill -this guy couldn't even get play time on the Cavs off the bench???
George Lynch-N.O., comes off bench
Matt Geiger-was a bench player on the sixers, and now retired
Rodney Buford -not even in the L anymore
Jumaine Jones -can't start on the cavs
Todd MacCulloch -we know the deal on him
Kevin Ollie -solid player like Snow, but no one will give him a shot at starting
Raja Bell-sometime starts with Dallas sometimes he doesn't depending on opponent.

And Iverson took a bunch of bench players to the finals. Now KG who did have the talent at the time, couldn't even get out the first round.

Terrell Brandon
Wally Szczerbiak
Anthony Peeler
LaPhonso Ellis
Chauncey Billups
Felipe Lopez
Reggie Slater
Radoslav Nesterovic
Sam Mitchell
William Avery
Dean Garrett

Even Kornheisser from PTI said that Iverson could do more with a team than KG, when Wilbon asked him, so it's proof right there.

For all ya'll haters out there Iverson is a top 5 player right now. His shooting percentage is low because of lack of help and he has to take more iladvised shots. If you remember when Iverson was in the all-star game, he passed more than he shot until crunch time. He played 41 minutes as he would do in a regular game, scored 35pts., 5 rebs., 7 asst., 5 stls. So all AI needs is a good complementry player like Pierce, Nowitski, and Kobe, and you wouldn't think twice about him being a top 5 player as well as even becoming a top 5 all-time or atleast top 10. He's already 6th on the all-time scoring list and he's doing all this at 6'0 165 lbs. That's an accomplishment and yes I dare say he is better than Isaiah (as well as any other guard ever to play around this height) at his height but not as a pg because AI is a sg.

Iverson definetly is a top 5 NBA player right now. His game is near perfect IMO, with the exception of course being his shot selection. But you can't blame him for all of them, considering the "talent" around him.

AI while being an awesome player is not in the same league as T-mac and Kobe. While you guys have listed the average players Iverson has played with in the past you have neglected to mentioned that he has played with quality players too (Hughes, Stack, DC, KVH). Snow is better than half the point guards in the league, skinner is a good defender and rebounder, McKie was sixth man of the year a little while ago and can still fill it up, KVH is playing the best ball of his career. IMO Iverson is the 7th best player in the league right now.

1. KG
2. T-mac
3. Kobe
4. TD
5. Shaq
6. Kidd
7. Iverson

Just my opinion

Hughes-is solid but has no J. Sixers don't need to Eric Snow's.
Stack-Can't even be a good complementry player to the greatest player of all-time. (he's being out played by a 40 year old!!!! Only 5pts yesterday!! Get real)
DC- (when was the last time he was a menace in the east, what?? 97'. I can't believe you even mentioned his name.
KVH-speaks for himself. The most reluctant shooter and worstest defender in the league and he's overrated, if you watch Sixers games on a regular, then you know where Im coming from.

AI is definitely a great player if he's able to play with these mediocre players who can't be consistent in what they do and knowing their roles.

And like I said AI is a top 5 player.

1. Shaq -most dominate player in the league
2. MJ-are you seeing what he's doing at 40!!!
3. AI-the most dominating little guy in the league and led bench players to a Finals apperance.
4. KG-the lone star, but needs to crush everything and be selfish come playoff time.
5. Duncan/Kobe- Duncan can carry a team but, can Kobe??.......hmmm?
