    Corey Maggette: Spurs Interested

My Spurs need some scoring, but I just hope Maggette can play some D.

true, the Spurs really need help on the front line b/c as much as I love Duncan and he is a very good position defender, but the Spurs need a "real" shot blocker and some real athleticism on that front line. Is Camby available?

what i like about him is that he gets to the line. he's one of the league leaders in FTA for his position. if they get him they can start him and keep manu coming off the bench.

should help with the scoring droughts they had last year.

we are going to be losing Finley and Barry... two complementary scorers... I would love to get Maggette so we can fill those holes. His poor defense can hide behind our great defenders anyway. I don't understand how you could be against this signing... the guy should be making 7-8 million per year, and we might be able to get him for the mid-level exception (5.5 million)... how could this EVER be a bad thing?

Yes Maggette does a lot of things well but they just happen to be on the offensive end of the court.

I would agree. SA need plenty of help in the the frontline. Tony, Manu and Bowen can take care of the rest. With LAL having Odom, Pau and Bynum, I don't see how SA can win against that lineup with thier current roster. I mean, they can't even lick LAL who was without Bynum.

well don't forget Ginobili had a jammed ankle, and the Brent Barry/Derek Fisher no-call. We had a few variables weighing us back.

It was a five game series! Don't stoop down to the Suns fans' level! You're a Spurs fan, dude, you can just say "we didn't get it done" last year and move on. Couple mid level moves and they'll be right back.

Well you don't have to spend money if you don't need to... We need one pickup to match the difference of the Lakers having Andrew Bynum, and that's it. In my honest opinion, if Ginobili is healthy, we are just as good as the Lakers minus Andrew Bynum.

yeah i agree, i feel the lakers are overrated defensively and if you guys can get a scorer and someone to match bynum you'll be fine in the west.

Who rates the Lakers as a good defensive squad?

The major problem with the Spurs, besides scoring, is that they need a proven, athletic big man (i.e., Camby) that can negate and alter shots around the hoop.

The Spurs' problem is depth. They got so shallow they had to put Ginobli on the bench. Once their roleplayers got too old, they faltered. Now we're still talking about a WCF team, and one of the best front offices in all of sports. If they get a guy like Maggette, they can pick up a few inexpensive unknowns and lock up a great, great shot at a ring for the next three years.
