      Not for long.

Soon he will reside in Brooklyn.

It was more than just Artest and Yao. It was Brooks, he looks like he should be the starting PG. What's the +/- for him? It seemed like both times he came in we went up by 10. Also Chuck Hayes was playing stellar defense in the 4th against Dirk.

Rockets are a deep team. Not many teams can run a second lineup out there and sustain or get a lead like they can.

The Mavs are probably a better team then people give them credit for this season. If Josh Howard plays like he did this game, offensively they have a good team. I wouldn't write them off just yet.

But Rox looking good so far...and please people need to stop mentioning 1st round exits, it's not like they were ever favored but once and none of that has anything to do with this season. I'm tired after a Rox win someone says "Oh tell me when they get outta the first round"

I can definitely understand being salty after this game, but how is he predicting standings? I think he's just saying that Ron goes hard and has a killer instinct something Houston has lacked in the past.

As far as the lack of brain cells comment, I don't quite know what that means, but he seemed damn smart on the court on both offense and on defense.

The Rocks are obviously going to be in the mix imo, but the west is very tough obviously. They are probably as talented as anyone, with the exception of the Lakers imo.

As far as the Mavs, they played right with Houston tonight, they just got cold at the end. They hadnt played in 7 days and were the last team to play their first game, so some rust can be expected.

that was a response to someone predicting a first round exit for Dallas after one game. My point was people dont hold these Rockets to the same standard when they have yet to get out of the first round...but my main point was that it is silly to make such predictions after the 1st or 2nd game.

It's going to be an interesting season in the west, especially the SW. Teams are going to hate that Texas/New Orleans swing.

                    yea I agree with that

just a joke. Maybe I should have called him flaky instead

no one has ever questioned Ron's talent on the court. How long has he been in the league?

Yeah, the Lakers look like the best team so far. At the same time they haven't really played anyone but the Clips and Blazers. We'll see, I think they'll be good, but I don't know if they will run their showtime plays and blow out teams like the Suns, Mavs, Rox, NOH, Jazz and Spurs. West is still tough though. A lot of people are writing off a lot of teams like your Mavs, Suns, and Spurs. I wouldn't just yet.

Yeah the SW division is like the NBA's version of the NFC East...well excluding the Grizzlies...but besides them I wouldn't be surprised to see any of the 4 other teams in the Finals given the right cirucmstances for each team of course. They all have their questions.

Lol as far as J.Howard go and Artest...both need to focus on basketball. Howard's level of play wasn't where it needed to be last season. He plays up to his level they can prove their doubters wrong that they still have a shot at this. Stackhouse is a problem though lol.

ha touche...although that was a fast *** Lexus he was driving. I dont remember what video you are talking about. Are you talking about his bud Devin Harris being hustled lol? guilt by association?

my comment about Ron was tongue in cheek. Im ****ed that he killed my team today. ...but It wasnt as bad as what Barkley said before the game about Artest. Did anyone else catch that comment? I was like WTF?

                          good points imo

but i just wish more people would chill at the beginning of the season and let everything unfold. There is too much overreacting at the beginning of season. I heard "the czar" on the telecast talking about the Mavs having to do some "soul searching" after this opening game. I was "WTF?", it's the first freaking game of a looong season.

I do it too though I guess. It's fun having the NBA back.

It means Ron Artest is going to play to win and will do anything to win games. He's tough, D's up and isn't afraid.- Dallas didn't do much in the playoffs last year and they are older and lost a very good coach while the west has gotten better. Seeing how there are multiple prediction threads that were started before the season began I posted mine here. I thought that would be okay but I took a year long sabbatical from the NBA threads and forgot that everyone who says something against the Mavs lacks credibility to some people around here.

I agree that Artest is one of the most talented in the league. That is obvious...but he's been in the league for quite a while and hasnt exactly been one of the biggest "winners" in the league. Anyone who has followed the NBA is familiar with how he has hurt different teams, as Barkley said before the game. However, this does seem to be a very good situation for him in Houston. It will be interesting to see. He might be the difference, but Artest could also flame out like he has done before.

as far as your comments about the Mavs, im just talking about the double standard. You talked about them "being one and done in the first round" this year after the first freaking game...when these Rockets have never made it out of the first round.

you say Artest is the difference because "he is a winner", but just about every key player on these Mavs have won more games than Artest in their careers thus far. Im just talking about the double standard and overreacting after one game.
