I love AI but he's not at the same level as he was when he went to the finals. And the East is stronger this year than it was back then, imo. Pistons have a chance but I wouldn't jump on their bandwagon quite yet based on history almost a decade ago.

I dont' know, I think this works out well for Denver, they get a true Point Guard, Now Anthoney Carter can come off the bench. Now it can be Melo's team again, and he can be the main guy with Big shot sitting beside him. The thing is, Who's going to be the 2 guard now?..I don't think you can start JR Smith or can you?..

What makes you think he isn't on that level any more?

I am not saying he IS or isn't but explain to me why you feel he isn't?
        Concrete evidence/videos please

            iversons 2000 stats - 31.1 ppg, 42% fg, 4.6 apg, 3.8 rpg, 2.5 spg
            iversons 07 stats - 26.4 ppg, 46% fg, 7.1 apg, 3.0 rpg, 2.0 spg

i would argue that his 07 stats are better than his 2000 stats, he's more efficient and more of a team player now. stats aside, he at least has become more of a team player than he was in 2000, where he was chucking alot. 26 on 46% shooting is great, and the assists are way up. maybe he lost a quarter? of a step, but i'll take this AI any day

from what I've seen, and I haven't kept on top of this by any means, JR Smith has improved his attitude.

But I don't want a team "led" by 'Melo. I think he's the least helpful to his team of all the other NBA "superstars".

I just started watching the NBA last year so I dont know a lot about the players/personnel.

Who 'won' the trade? The chick (who's Detroit-bias) said Detroit but just wanted to see what you guys think

Chauncey will have to be the leader. If its Melo they're down and out for the count

That said, this isnt about how good AI is and you guys should know that by now.

The guy is a hard fit in a team concept which is why its either, Rip is coming off the bench, or the Pistons arent done yet because Rip and AI dont mix.

AI's effectiveness of putting pressure on teams is not because of his passing skills.

                        Completely and totally agree.

AI isn't someone who is going to beat you with his passing skills.

I don't like the fit with AI in Detroit.

I think Melo wil "GET IT" this year, and with AI gone, I think he'll realize that it's all on him now, and plus, he never had a player like Billups thats been there before, I really think Billup will do Melo some justice.

Plus, Melo see the likes of his friends with Wade and Bron doing big things, i'm pretty sure he wants to get there also..

Since the olympics Melo has been a different player.

Basketball-wise, no one. So I'd say Denver, simply because they are accomplishing their goal, dumping salaries. It's hard to see how the chemistry in Detroit will produce a title.

I really love Chauncey and Dyess, but as a Pistons fan this team had enough chances. I said in the off season that I wouldn't be upset with any change as change was needed.

I believe this is the last year of AI's deal. He is off the books. Stuckey can start next year if they choose. Sheed is also off the books after this year. They have one more chance and then maybe change their team through free agency after this year.

You never know how it will turn out, but I am not going to hate on the move. I trust Joe D.

not buying it at all. iverson is much more efficient and team oriented. too bad that nuggets team sucks. now you put him out there with a very good defensive team, a bunch of hustle players and some guys who can hit shots? last time he had even close to those 3 things was in 2000 where he led his team to the finals.

you guys will be in for a surprise
