I don't think they lost on this trade. Just being realistic, they had gotten as far as they could with that squad. 6 appeaances to the ECF and a chip, not a bad run at all. This isn't a move to move to put them over the top (of course, anything can happen, but highly doubt it). Joe D was adamant about shaking things up, and this is the first sign of it. Iverson won't be a Piston after this year. After this season, it's time to start rebuilding, and the Iverson money coming off the books will be the foundation of that process. I'm just gonna sit back and see how Joe D works it all out.

That's what I'm saying. If this is a sign from the team that they're banking on JR, Melo, and Nene as their core, that's fine with me. I hope AI gets his championship in Detroit -- they're actually my "darkhorse" pick for the title this year before this trade, and they just got more dangerous in a playoff series. Provided their chemistry doesn't completely collapse in Chauncey's absence, it'll make them a scary-*** team to contend with in a 7-game series. Chauncey could never score anything like AI can, so if Sheed/Tay/Rip are having a tough night, AI might be able to drag them to a win... can't say the same about Chauncey.

The best part of this is that the team is changing. The core group was not going to win a title, hell not even going to win the East. Not good enough. That has been clearly proven.

If this fails, all good as you have Joe D as a recruiter and tons of cap space. I want to see what he can do in building a new squad.

Hopefully Dyess Man does get bought out and comes back.

Have you even remotely paid attention the past two years? Chauncey's been a ghost come clutch time in the playoffs.

And I'm not sure why you think Iverson and Rasheediot won't get along. Rasheed is universally loved by his teammates.

? What's the point of this question. They are the Atlanta Braves of the NBA, not too shabby.

My point is that the Pistons are the ultimate "what have they done" team. Until they won the 2004 chip, none of the players had done anything.

As for Iverson, since 2001 he's made 4 All NBA teams, and last year he averaged 26 points 7 assists and 2 steals on 46% shooting.
