Time for the Mavs to trade Dirk!

Should've been traded last year but it's neither here nor there. Bottom line is thÉ window is closed and this team is not going anywhere. Don't continue to waste Dirk's prime years on "one and done's". The Kidd trade shouldn't have happened and I think even when his contract comes off this summer, you'll still be over the cap. Mavs lack for picks and young players besides Brandon Bass and Gerald Green ( who may get more than the exception next summer from another team). It's already too late but the Mavs need to blow it up and start rebuilding this year before it's too late to get anything of value for Dirk whether it be picks or players. Thoughts other than Dirk sucks, soft, etc.?

Dirk should be traded...Ton of trade value. They need an enforcer.

Yep, the Mavs are done. I could have told you that after how they ended last season. Oh wait I did.

Making the playoffs may be doable for them, but they won't be doing much else. Even with a healthy Josh Howard, they just don't have the right personnel. Not enough firepower, don't have the horses or an elite defense. Good to see Kidd getting triple doubles though.

I can't believe I used to compare Dirk to K.G.

Dirk can't effect the game other than shooting.

as much as people like to think Dirk is overrated... Equalizing him to Ben Wallace is a huge slap in his face. If they made a trade like that it would be R.I.P. Mavs.

I was thinking more of a Tyson Chandler or Boozer type player.

I thought I saw a story on ESPN where the Mavs said they thought they could win the championship this year?

I believe he was offering Ben Wallace as an enforcer, not straight up for Dirk.

We'll gladly take him on the Bulls. You can have any player except Rose.

Re: Time for the Mavs to trade Dirk!

I agree he can't be THE guy on a team but he would be a huge compiment on a contending team. KDRE, I don't think you saw that anywhere. As well as they played in the first quarter against the Lakers last nite, that is it, that is the best they can play and off course it wasn't enough, they still loss. Afterwards, Rick Carlisle went all "moral victory" during the post game talking about how hard they played.

To the poster thinking Wade and Davis killed the Mavs it wasn't that. It was Donnie Nelson and Mark Cuban's decision to stand pat and not make any significant moves to change how this flawed team is structured. Something shouldve been done after the finals loss even though that team won 67 games.

SoMiss, I definitely saw that somewhere, but i didnt click the link for whatever my reasons, I wasnt really interested in it.. but anyhow, if you move Dirk you have to break up that core

                            That's not true at all.

As for trading Dirk, what do you trade him for? You won't get picks since Dirk would elevate any team into playoff position. You're not getting a "young stud". At best you'll get some average young players or an expiring contract.

Hinrich, Gooden and Tyrus Thomas + 2 1st round picks

                              for

                              Dirk

Dallas gets 8 mil in cap relief but has to eat Hinrich's contract.
