I thought they were pretty fair.

Alston and Barnes were both out of line. Steve Nash was also out of line for jumping in and going after T-Mac for no reason.

It was Nash's move that escalated things further. Had he not done anything, the scuffle would have not escalated the way it did.

Wrong. Had the ref called a foul like he was supposed to there wouldnt have been a scuffle

I was just going over why I thought the suspensions were given to the right people.

But I think you are definitely correct in saying that the ref should have called a foul. I really can't figure out ANY reason why there was no foul call there.

While I do think that a foul call could of had a chance preventing it, I'm not 100% sure that even with a foul call, Rafer wouldn't have reacted the way he did.

I can still see the ref blowing the whistle calling the foul on Barnes, and Rafer still going after Barnes for the blatant shot he took at him. I don't know how much the foul call would have had with Rafer's reaction, you know?

And now that I am really thinking about it, I'm almost certain that the same thing would have happened even if the ref called a foul. I see Rafer going after Barnes regardless.

Wow, big shocker, Shaq runs in, shoves 3 guys to the ground and gets a fine, Nash runs in and gets shoved to the ground and gets suspended for a game, unbelievable. Nash gets suspended for "escalating" the situation, well what the hell was Shaq doing when he shoved 3 guys to the ground then? The NBA continues to prove that they are completely inept at pretty much everything, nice to see Shaq must have some sort of pull with the NBA front office.

I saw the shoving on sportscenter and I can't believe that Shaq only got fined. It was hilarious seeing his big *** just push everybody out of the way though.

Ohh it was entertaining to see but I dont get the NBA. Barnes runs through a pick and gets no foul, Alston takes offense and comes back at him, both get suspended, not a huge problem with that. Nash comes running in, not sure on his intentions since McGrady planted him on his *** right away and he gets suspended as well yet Shaq shoves 3 guys to the floor (Yao, McGrady and Alston) and merely gets a slap on the wrist, a fine? The fine is change to him, it wont change anything and if the exact same situation were to happen again, Shaq would do the exact same thing again anyways. None of it makes sense, I feel like the 3 professional leagues are finding ways to pad their bottom line with these ridiculous fines, at best Nash should have been fined and thats it, he was no more guilty then Shaq or McGrady were and yet the punishments are completely different.

If you say so, I watched it again and I stand by what I said. Nash comes running in and before he does anything, McGrady shoves him to the ground, towards the end when Nash is being held back and Alston is over there it appears that Nash is trying to get into it with him but I still dont see him actually doing anything. Shaq actually shoved 2 guys to the floor and shoved Alston in the back as well, how is Nash attempting to do something the same as Shaq actually doing something? Gotta love the commentators, talking about Shaq trying to get in there to break it up, thats a really weird way of breaking something up when your pushing them in the back to the ground. The NBA is a joke anymore.

I agree with you to an extent, because I think that if nash hadn't gone after alston (came up to him headchecking) the thing would not have escalated( and I think that's thr reason behind his suspension)

If you are saying that Nash came after Alston like he was going to smack him upside his head then I have to disagree, Nash barely appears to get his hands above his waist before him and McGrady are entangled and then Nash is on the ground. Are you sure you arent assuming you know what Nash was going to do instead of basing it on what actually happened? You mention it wouldnt have escalated if Nash hadnt gotten involved, in reality, it wouldnt have escalated if the blind, ignorant ref standing mere feet from them when it happened, had blown the whistle and done something about it. If anyone needs to be eating a fine for this its the damn ref that swallowed his whistle and let this happen, but unfortunatly we know that the refs are untouchable so nothing will happen to him, and thats the main reason the NBA has become such a damn joke anymore.

nba should suspend the ref who failed to call the foul on barnes for at least a couple games with loss of income for those games .

I saw this game on ESPN and it was a big mess. But it actually made me laugh when Shaq put his hands and slightly pushed Yao and Yao fell down and had a hard time getting up. It shows you that this guy is so weak and unbalaced. I looked at him when he went down to the bench in the 4th and he looked like he had just played all 82 regular season games. I can't see this guy playing until he's 35, and if he does he'll probably play 10-12 minutes a game.

The NBA has suspended Steve Nash and Matt Barnes of Phoenix and Rafer Alston of Houston for their roles in a fight. Alston and Barnes were suspended for two games without pay and Nash for one.
