I don't see how Nash shouldn't have gotten suspended. He came in and made a situation that was just between Alston and Barnes into a incident involving everyone in the area. McGrady was busy separating Alston and Barnes until Nash came charging in and McGrady was like "wtf, man chill out" and shoved him to the ground.

I guess I can somewhat agree but there is no argument that can show that Shaq didnt deserve it, how that big oaf escaped punishment, outside of the fine, is beyond me.

Why are a lot of you guys protecting "little" Nash? He's a grown *** man that was upset from a soft pick that hurt his neck. T-Mac and Yao were trying to subdue the situation between Barnes and Alston, then here comes Super Nash. He would've been suspended for 2 games if he could fight. Since he got thrown down like a rag doll he's now viewed as the victim. Plain silly.

I think that when two players start to get at it in the NBA, such as Barnes and Alston here (or Wallace and Artest in the Pacers-Pistons Brawl), NO ONE should interfere. Not the refs, not the players, not the coaches...no one. Just clear the area and let them go at it. They're grown men, let them resolve it themselves, whether they want to scream, push, or beat the hell out of each other it's their choice. When it's all said and done, and they're both bleeding or one of them is knocked out, they'll realize how stupid they acted, with everyone in the arena just staring at them. And then they'll get suspended, just the two of them, no other players fined and/or suspeneded. Too much interference causes fines and suspensions on players that didn't even start it, and could've been avoided if they didn't interfere in the first place.

Lol, I'm just kidding. Just watched the Lesnar Couture fight so I'm obviously still hyped up.

But I was always interested in seeing how far the players would take it if no one interfered. Would Wallace and Artest have beaten each other into a pulp, or would they just continue to jaw at each other until they got tired of talking? What about Barnes and Alston, what would they have done if no one interfered?

Reminds me of the scene from Dazed and Confused where the geeky guy threw a punch at the tough guy pothead because he thought that after the punch everyone in the area would interfere and break it up immediately. Instead everyone just circled around them and watched them go at it, lol, with the pothead beating the crap out of the geek.

I think there is a lot of villifying the bigger, stronger players here. Shaq's actions weren't more extreme than anyone else's, he's just bigger. It was a scuffle. No one knew what was what after a point. The Suns started it, so despite what they say, the initiator should get more of a penalty. Overall though, I think it was something that could have been handled with techs, ejections and fines. Suspensions should be reserved for malicious intent. There were heated emotions here, but no one ever really tried to hurt anyone.

It's the job of the officials and coaches to assert themselves quickly and get control of the situation. In other sports(not just hockey, but football too) this kind of thing is overlooked very quickly.

To piggy back on this thread, does Shaq get suspended for tonights blatant retaliation on the Pistons when he took Stuckey down in midair? Im getting really sick of this guy, I really wish someone would lay his big *** out and end his career, its like the guy is getting dirtier and dirtier with age or something. For those that didnt see it, Iverson was trying to clear space because Nash was right on him and he caught him with an elbow, doubtful that it was intentional but Nash didnt seem to complain much outside of the pain. Later on in the game Shaq has Stuckey driving right at him and instead of playing the ball he literally hammers Stuckey up high while hes in the air causing him to damn near crash to the ground on his head, he was tossed from the game but this is getting ridiculous.

I dont know man, everytime I watch it I see Shaq following through in a downward motion like hes trying to send him to the ground as hard as possible. Maybe Im wrong here but thats the way I see it atleast.

On a side note, is there a reason why I cant embed the video in the Team Specific threads but I can here? HTML code being turned off in that area maybe?

That could very well be the case. I don't like Shaq either so it's not looking through purple and orange. It was probably a mix of trying to send a message on purpose yet trying to play the ball. Since Shaq is the size he is and Stuckey is the size he is, it just looked like a trainwreck, literally.

As for the embedding, I have no clue whatsoever. I'd ask in Steve's Forum.
