He's surprising me, but we don't need him to score like he is. I liked the way we used him last year, where all he would do is rebound and pass it out to the break.

His presence/role this year hurting Amare, in my opinion.

And yes, maybe we're gelling, but you have to look at the teams we've played recently. They're awful teams. And not only are they awful, but we're having big leads in the first quarter then losing at least two of the next three quarters. Against such inferior competition, that's simply unacceptable. This team still gets way too complacent when they have a big lead (which has been the story of the Suns for what, 15 years now?), and they need to learn to keep their foot on the gas.

Also, Porter wanted to bring a defensive philosophy and saw how poorly that failed so they tried to recover themselves and traded for J-Rich. That alone should prove all along that D'Antoni's style maybe wasn't as much of a detriment as people thought it was. We can score in bunches but we still need a perimeter defender BADLY.

The main reason for our stretch over the last few days? Leandro Barbosa. The guy's been lighting it up, and hopefully, he's starting to move on from the rough first few months of the season he had.

I look forward to the team being tested.

Yeah I don't care about them winning a championship, they were just fun to watch and represented a unique brand of basketball that was extremely pleasing to me. The 04-05 edition were my favorite, but that crazy STAT-less lineup with Diaw at C in 06-07 was cool too. I enjoy teams for reasons other than winning... I could care less about that, honestly, especially when we're not talking about my Nuggets.

And the D'Antoni suns were always middle of the pack on defensive efficiency.. people keep erroneously saying that they were a horrible defensive team, and that's simply not true. Their pace skews their numbers to a high degree, but they ranked anywhere from 16th to 13th in defensive efficiency (opponent points per 100 possessions) the whole time he was their coach, which is average-to-good. Their offensive production more than made up for their defense, as evidenced by their regular season win totals over that period -- I could care less about them winning a championship, but they were not a bad defensive team all things considered. Playoff basketball is different though, and they probably are more equipped for that now, but I will always rep those old Suns teams...

At one point, they were even higher. The Suns team with Kurt Thomas in 05-06 was something like top 5 defensively until KT went down, unless I'm mistaken. Hence my point about the Suns needing REBOUNDING, not particularly defense.

Not surprised at all. I just think the dude gets in moods. Sometimes he feels like imposing his will, sometimes he doesn't. Right now he does. Even back in his prime he had a problem with that. Even at 36 and past his physical prime, when he's healthy there isn't a player who can stop him but himself.

Kobe/Wade/Lebron won't be playing this well at the age Shaq is at.

Interested to see how Nene will do against the big fella tonight. He tends to play really well against the premier post palyers (especially Duncan), but I'm worried about foul trouble. We'll have to throw Petro in to absorb some fouls, which is good.
