He's surprising me, but we don't need him to score like he is. I liked the way we used him last year, where all he would do is rebound and pass it out to the break.
His presence/role this year hurting Amare, in my opinion.
And yes, maybe we're gelling, but you have to look at the teams we've played recently. They're awful teams. And not only are they awful, but we're having big leads in the first quarter then losing at least two of the next three quarters. Against such inferior competition, that's simply unacceptable. This team still gets way too complacent when they have a big lead (which has been the story of the Suns for what, 15 years now?), and they need to learn to keep their foot on the gas.
Also, Porter wanted to bring a defensive philosophy and saw how poorly that failed so they tried to recover themselves and traded for J-Rich. That alone should prove all along that D'Antoni's style maybe wasn't as much of a detriment as people thought it was. We can score in bunches but we still need a perimeter defender BADLY.
The main reason for our stretch over the last few days? Leandro Barbosa. The guy's been lighting it up, and hopefully, he's starting to move on from the rough first few months of the season he had.
I look forward to the team being tested.
