Re: ninjamonkey and ninjak2\'s slider thread (NBA 2K3)

Based on a lot of people's complaints I am looking to reduce the speed some along with the dunk layup vs. shot tendency. I did some playtesting over the weekend and it seemed that the higher defensive awareness is compared to off awareness, the less effective picks and penetration(it's still possible) is along with better help d. Please, ANY suggestions you have are welcomed.
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

It'd be cool if someone could post what each Slider means (is for). Because I think the problem with everyone`s individual tweaking is that we think we know what a Slider is for and it`s actually the opposite of what we think.

                  Like:
                  A HIGH Dunk/Layup vs. Shot Tendency will do.....X, Y, Z, etc.

Then we could tweak til we drop.

I sent off an email to sega requesting this very thing bigeast. Hopefully I can get a reply and post them here.

The one's we really need answers to are dunk/layup vs. shot tendency(Home and Away), Off and Def. Awareness and A.I. Shot tendencies (close,3pt,etc.)

All the other one's are pretty much self explanatory

Defensive Stopping Power refers to how fast an offensive player rolls off a defender once they make contact (low=faster, high=slower) This does not affect the ability to back down people, but it will affect the ability to roll off of defenders.

chg/blocking slider-the higher this is the more blocking fouls you will see. the lower this is the more charging calls you will get. Having this all the way up means that they will call more blocking than charging fouls. All the way up does not mean you will get more chg and blocking fouls equally.

speed, blocking, stealing:the higher these are, the more effective all players are in those categories.

ball handle: improves everyone's handle. I think the higher you raise this, the more effective you and the cpu are at protecting the ball. If you have a super high def. awareness along with a low handle you will be able to reachin more often and get steals without many reach in calls(I think ) being called. I think if you have a slightly higher handle than def awareness and steals more reach ins may be called. I haven't tested this theory fully yet. You don't want to have it too high to the point that you can't differentiate Shaq's handle from Kobe's.

Shooting percentages-higher equals better shooting, lower has opposite effect.

Thanks for the Kudos NBA2k3Gamer. If there is anything you don't like about them, please vocalize it hear. One major complaint is that it's too easy to drive off of picks and too easy for the cpu to draw fouls on drives. I'm testing some possible changes.
