    Re: EXPANSION DRAFT

I would actually be in favor or realignment... but contraction instead of expansion. I dont expect this to be popular with anyone, but some teams do not get the support they need and the talent / star players in the nba seems somewhat dilluted.

I think it would allow for more attendance among the teams left, good schedules due to the new conferences (less travel for teams... etc) and funner games.

I agree with that. Contraction would be better, at least the competition level, for the NBA. You would have soild guys from 1-10, instead of 1-6. The only teams that are that talented right now are the Kings, Mavs, Pacers, and Detroit. The other teams have lots of scrubs and a couple of good players. I doubt the NBA will go for it, since they are all about the $$$. An expansion team brings more money in, which is why they are doing it. I think it's strange because it's the quality of the game that brings people to watch. And if you lower the quality, one would think that people would stop watching. So how do you bring the quality back up? You get more talent, and to do that, you contract. Oh well, they all have dollar signs in their eyes though. It's not good for us fans, but good for the bottom line though.

well it's not that simple, for fans in big markets like LA, NY, etc. contraction might seem a good idea, but for people like myself from Charlotte expansion is awesome. I love going to pro basketball games but before the Hornets the closet pro bball team was in ATL and I couldnt make that trip. Expansion opens the nba to a wider range of fans and creates a sense of excitement and buzz in a city that normally wouldnt have it. I like being able to see pro bball live. And im sure fans from Denver and Memphis do to. Just b/c the team blows now that doesnt mean they can't be good in the future. It is a cycle for some teams, I remember the Mavs and Kings being poor organizations, back then if we had this contraction conversation they would be brought up as being a team for possible contraction. So contraction may be a good idea for some, but it's terrible for others.

You can't argue that the Clippers should be contracted though. And it wouldn't hurt the fans cause no ones like them and LA has the Lakers.
