If I were a NBA GM I would trade away all my picks to only sign players that have been in the league unless a Jordan, James, or Bryant comes along. But even then Jordan was passed over and Bryant was not even top 10 if I remember right. The NBA draft is almost pointless.
No actually that wasn't the case at all, Kenyon Martin (who was a beast at UC) was the sure fire #1 pick, but after that is was widely recognized as being an awful Draft year. Were players talked up, yes, but the reality was addressed.

I see a lot of talented players that have helped the teams they were/are on be succcseful.

theres no superstar but who said there had to be.

half the guys are still in the league and a big part of whatever team they are on.

I hate being a Clippers fan.

3 first round picks and we picked Darius Miles, Keyon Dooling, and Quentin Richardson.

And the next Shaq, Michael Olawokondi (sp I know it's way off). The Clippers are the worst drafting team in pro sports, rivaled perhaps by the Cincinnati Bengals.

            1. The NBA draft is pretty easy to figure out. If you don't reach for potential or "need" and just draft the touted best player available, you'll generally make the correct pick. Excluding the early high school and international players, the top 5 picks generally contain the best players in the draft. Sure, there are some great players elsewhere, but if you don't reach, you'll probably get a good player.

            2. NBA rookies with the low learning curve, instant impact, and slotted salary are probably the best value in any American sport. Even if you have the first pick and draft a guy who never plays a minute, it's only $4.5-5 million a year. That's the equivalent of the 3rd or 4th guy off the bench. In the 6-12 range, you can get a solid start-role player easily for the price of a scrub.

The NBA draft is no risk all reward.

You're just jealous of our selection of Yaroslav Korolev.

We took him over Danny ****ing Granger.

The drafts from the late 80's-early 90's ruined the league post jordan-pre 2003 and had some truly dreadful players selected in the lottery. 2000 wasnt that good but theres been several worse.

Hows this for a top 2 Pervis Ellison and Danny Ferry
As Shaquille O'Neal left the Suns practice court, he yelled out, "Alvin's the coach. We must be the Clippers. And I must be Olowokandi. Nooooo!"

I was totally stunned when Redd dropped so low, I couldn't believe that he fell to the Lakers at 29, and then when they passed on him too, I kept thinking, "what don't we regular fans know about this guy?", but they all just missed the boat on that one.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

REALLY?! Half the guys in this draft are a big part of whatever team they are on? You do realize that Mike Miller was the only rookie not to miss a game that season? Other than Hedo and Michael Redd, there are no major contributors to (consistently) winning teams.

I know there may be other terrible drafts, but this one just struck me...especially this lottery.
