My man Dirk still can't get no respect and the sad part is I ain't even a Mavs fan and I can notice this.

I agree on a lot of points.

Except that Dirk is still in his prime, so if management would put the players in place truly tailored for Dirk I could see things differently as far as the elite discussion goes.

Management needs to step their game up in DAL.

There aren't that many GREAT teams in the league. The top teams all have elite talent and Dallas doesn't. They have 2nd tier talent and third tier talent.

It doesnt really matter what you consider "elite". Dirk's play on the court over the past 8 or so seasons speaks for itself.

Well this is the issue with Dirk. You need to put him in a Celtics type situation, where he has one or two more 2nd tier talents to put him over the top. So you need a Joe Johnson and Carmelo Anthony level player next to him, and you'll have equivalent talent to the Lakers, Cavs and Spurs, who all have one elite player and varying levels of 2nd tier, 3rd tier and specialist players surrounding them.

ZB9, I know it hurts that I'm analyzing Dirk's game, but empty comments about credibility don't change the facts. He's not as good as the best players in the league. You already agreed to that. Now you're just fighting the pain of the truth. Like a kid who is tired, but really wants to stay up late. 8 or so seasons? This isn't a lifetime achievement discussion. I'm talking about Dallas this year.

Hope you're not talking about me, because it's really not a slap in the face to call him a 2nd tier player. There are plenty of very good players in that category.

Mavs then stormed back..I was about to cut the game off, to play 2k9. Got lazy to turn the system on, and decided to watch the rest of the game. Glad I did now. Thanks to lazyness.

So what? There is a decent history of great scoring power forwards. And FYI, power fowards also need to block shots and rebound. Elite power forwards average 10+ rebounds a game, block shots, defend in the post and score inside.

If they don't, who will?

Most 2nd tier players are deficient in one area like this. For instance, if Amar'e wanted to be elite, he'd have to start defending as well. Dwight Howard is the opposite. If his offensive game continues to grow, he will be considered one of the absolute best players in the league, because he already is a GREAT rebounder and defender. Dirk is a one trick pony. Shoot, Dirk. Shoot.

EC, what's the status on Andrew Bynum's recovery? Is there any chance he'll be back this season?

And what happened to Vujacic? It's like he's not hitting as many jumpers as he was last year from the times i've watched you guys.

Yeah Phil, you took out Ariza, Kob, Odom and Fish out at the same time knowing:

1. No Andrew
2. Sash has struggled all year shooting
3. You have Powell, Walton, Farmar and Sash playing at the sametime

Pack, they interviewed Andrew today and he said he's been running on a treadmill, but there's still a stinging pain in his knee when he cuts. He said it wears off though with ice. Then he said this week he begins basketball drills.
