As a Magic fan, I have to agree with this. It's a combination of us historically taking horrible drafts picks, him coming from a small school, and his position in the draft with the fact that he's starting, producing, and looks like he'll be an NBA player for a long time.

Re: Most suprising rookie?
FG% for Westbrook is horrendous. Playmaking and sheer ability to score go to Rose hands down.
The gap is wide IMO. I see Rose being an All-Star way before Westbrook, if he is ever selected to one.Comment

Re: Most suprising rookie?
fg% is what kills westbrook... but i watch them both play regularly... i have league pass... i honestly can not say that rose is killing him... he is better, but not by much... that's just my opinion from watching them both play this season tho that's all... westbrook is a better defender... they both need to work on their shot... but westbrook is better from 3 even tho they are both bad... westbrook is a better rebounder... 4.8 rebounds for a rookie point guard is pretty impressive...
statisically rose averages 1 more point, 1 more assist, and shoots a better fg% in 4 more minutes...
westbrook 1 more rebound, higher 3P%, more steals, higher ft%....
you pretty much have to expect westrbooks fg% to rise as his shot and shot selection get better...
i'd also like to add that westbrook has had several monster games including a triple double and like 6-8 30+ point games... i dont think rose has dropped 30 all year outside of pre-season...Last edited by o_capone; 04-05-2009, 07:03 PM.Comment

I feel you capone
Defensively, Westbrook is nice. He was the Pac-10 DPOY last year so I knew that he likes playing D.Comment

Re: Most suprising rookie?
Most surprising rookie has to be Mario Chalmers - what a steal he turned out to be in the second round. I don't think anyone expected him to be as consistently solid as he has been in his first season. He's by no means the best, but he's a been a pleasant surprise for Heat fans.IT'S GREAT TO BEA MIAMI HURRICANE"At exactly which point do we start to realizeThat a life without knowledge is death in disguise?"Comment

Re: Most suprising rookie?
Ditto on Lopez.
Marc Gasol is something serious too.
Rose has lived up too the hype which is not the norm so that is a suprise also.
I just hope my man Maressee Speights gets some more PT in the Play-Offs!The voice of reality.Comment
