the rookies that have surprised me this year are mareese speights from watching almost all the sixers game i was surprised to see that he can knock down 18 to 22 foot jump shots on a consistent basis. the other guy that has surprised me are courtney lee, i thought he could be good but i didnt expect it this soon.

I'm with Checmate on this one Rudy is an assassin. I didn't think his game would translate so well to the nba. I'm suprised with beasly on the down side I expected much bigger things from him this year.

I'll also have to say Rudy Fernandez. Sometimes making the switch from college to NBA can be hard for some rookies, but it's difficult for intl. players. as well. He's held up pretty well for a team making the playoffs. Finishing in close second would have to be Westbrook. Making the switch to the point was a question mark, but he's handle it well.

Total homer pick here...Mareese Speights. He was thought of doing absolutely nothing this season and yet, he has come in and adapted quickly into the league and would probably start at the 5 spot if it wasn't for Dalembert's contract.

Eric Gordon was a surprise to me, and like others I was surprised by Brook Lopez's ability as a rook.

I can't call him a surprise. He was a scoring machine all throughout HS and college. He never needed a system to get his points either.

Also, I can't get a read on the kid. I liked him more than Mayo as a pro coming in but he doesn't strike me as a guy who wants to win. He reminds me very much of Ben Gordon which is very good and very bad.

Score a ton of points but seems like he's good win or lose. It's still really early so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Plus it's the Clippers.

And SMH at me for watching so many damn Clipper games this year

Oh my prediction still stands, Clippers make the playoffs next year.

They have one of the best teams on paper in the league, I think. Injuries and that "X-Factor" that causes the Clippers to suck year after year, even though they've had some solid teams the past few seasons.

BDiddy, Gordon, Thornton, Randolph, Kaman and Camby is a nice looking squad.

If using NBA 2k9 ratings (paper ratings), I would say they could be in the top 8-12 range.

However when real life factors, such as basketball IQ, teamwork, injury prone-ness, and desire come into play, they're obviously not. Another thing that hurts them is their lack of outside shooting, making them an easy team to defend.

                            Heh, love this:

But yeah, probably Brook Lopez... he's got a really refined game on both ends and definitely wasn't on my ROY radar in the early part of the season. Rose is the winner there, but Brook is #2 despite being on a lottery team.

Westbrook has really surprised me,in college he looked like a project and i felt OKC made a bad pick choosing him no.4 but Westbrook has shown remarkable progress and is looking like a triple-double guy.

We will be watching this guy at the top for a very long time.
