Re: Brad Miller: Celtics are cheap headhunters...
There was no wind up and no follow through from Rondo. The only reason there was blood is because he caught Miller in the mouth, which there is no mention in any rulebook that "facial contact is a flagrant foul."
I really can't believe so many people think this was a flagrant foul.Bears | Bulls | Cubs | Illinois | #Team3Some

Re: Brad Miller: Celtics are cheap headhunters...
In all honesty this is a dead issue and is taking the heat of the real problem.
Vinny's lack of coaching in OT. The bigger question is why was there no change in defense when Pierce kept doing the same play over and over. Why no double team? Make players the Allen and Marbury make the shot.Comment

Re: Brad Miller: Celtics are cheap headhunters...
It was clearly a flagrant foul, and I don't know how even a Celtics homer could dispute it.
I don't really care about this series, but with the Celtics seriously struggling against a .500 rookie-led Bulls team I don't see them getting out of round 2.Comment

Re: Brad Miller: Celtics are cheap headhunters...
That was clearly a flagrant...yes, I'm a Bulls fan, but if the tables were turned and Rose did that to Big Baby or Perkins and the refs missed the call I would've felt it was cheap. I dont let my fandom blind me from the reality of the situation.
It happened, there's nothing we can do about it, so I'm just gonna drop it.Comment

Just got a text alert from ESPN saying Rondo will not be fined or suspended."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: Brad Miller: Celtics are cheap headhunters...
I'm glad Rondo wasn't suspended (nor did I think he would), and I'm a Bulls fan.
Yeah, it was a flagrant, but so what? We had our chances and blew it, despite the uneven officiating.
The only reason this is even an issue to me is because they were ready to EJECT Brad Miller for that Big Baby flop, but when Rondo smacks him in the face from behind, its just a foul.Comment

It was a clear that it was a flagrant but if the league suspend him posthumously, ala Dwight, I would've been pissed.Comment

Re: Brad Miller: Celtics are cheap headhunters...
You guys are ridiculous if you are really pointing out that intent is not in the rule book. The rule posted indicates that the contact must be "unnecessary". That leaves HUGE room for interpretation. It literally only depends on what the refs calling the game determine to be necessary contact. If they thought Rondo was swiping for the ball, in other words had INTENT to hit the ball, then they might not deem the foul unecessary and therefore flagrant. Therefore a) intent matters because it determines necessity and b) if the refs concluded he was going for the ball then they would not call a flagrant on it.
So that split second made Rondo miss the ball by 3 feet? Come on, ehh. You're better than that.
Agreed. He intended to foul. It was worse than he wanted. It was a mistake. It shouldn't carry over to the next game. Though, w/NBA officials, it will.Originally posted by VP Richard M. Re: Brad Miller: Celtics are cheap headhunters...
Ok, for all of those that don't think it was a flagrant foul. If it had been reversed and Miller had smacked Rondo in the face while not even attempting to go for the ball do you think it would have been called a flagrant foul? Remember this was in Boston.Comment

Re: Brad Miller: Celtics are cheap headhunters...
Kudos to Rondo for pretending to track the ball while he slapped at Miller, lol.
I doubt he meant to slap dude so hard, or in his face...he prolly thought he'd just get off a desperation club to the side of his head...but he was looking directly at Millers noggin as he was gathering his jump. That was an obvious hack, and a hack above the shoulders is a flagrant by rule. Rondo was in no way playing that ball.
You can't apologize for a play that may have saved the season, tho. Considering the C's were getting KILLED by the officiating the entire game, that blown call was karma.Hank's Custom Collectibles 3D printer/painter extraordinaireComment
