Re: "If If I can... MAKE it here I can make it ANYWHERE...
^^^I don't think the price of the housing really affects the star NBA players too much.
Cleveland is generally not a city people want to go to. New York, South Beach and LA are all tops. People don't seem to mind going to Texas either, but that's a distant fourth behind the other three. Mind you, this is something that different players have said on different occasions, not just speculation.
Also, star players are arrogant. A lot of them believe that they can turn a losing situation around after a change of scenery. And sometimes they are right.Comment

And "if" he goes to NY and wins a title or 2 there will be a lot of lil boys born that summer named Lebron. Only Clevelanders will try to tarnish his legacy.^^^I don't think the price of the housing really affects the star NBA players too much.

I guess. It's not about the Nets' chances. It's about the reality of an arena in Brooklyn. Once there is one, people will discuss the two teams much more seriously. Right now, there is only one arena in New York, and it's really famous. And let's face it, this Nets/Brooklyn thing has seen some ups and downs, so you can't expect people to talk about the Nets in the context of being a NYC team.
My whole thing was just folks automatically locking in the Knicks as the ONLY other option NOT named Cleveland that has a chance to get him, if he were to become a FA.
I mean yea Marketing-wise(off the court), NY makes the most sense. Just the "on the court" side i'd have the issues with regarding the Knicks.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: "If If I can... MAKE it here I can make it ANYWHERE...
Clearly, the Knicks are not a good basketball team. I'd go as far as to say that the entire roster is worthless to a guy like Lebron.
But there is a flipside to that.
The Knicks management situation just improved ten fold last year. They have money. NYC is a very, very easy place to bring free agents to. So if you're a superstar and you're in NY and you want help, your only concerns are whether management is smart enough, and has enough cap space to get you help.
Both of those problems have been solved, so New York becomes very attractive from that perspective. And depending on what they do this off season, certain pieces on that team can become a lot more valuable. Particularly, Wilson Chandler.

Why did Kobe, who grew up in Philly and Italy, insist on going to LA?
It's not like he's tried to do acting and he doesn't seem to be involved in the Hollywood lifestyle.
He would have gotten a big stage in Philly or nearby NY if he turned into the star he's become.
Was Shaq already in LA when he was drafted?Comment

Maybe because he was traded to L.A. after being drafted? Shaq was signed the same year Kobe was drafted. Why did Kobe, who grew up in Philly and Italy, insist on going to LA?

Kobe forced the trade from Charlotte to LA. He had NO desire to play for a small market such as Charlotte.Comment

He didn't force a trade, he made it clear that he didn't want to play in Charlotte. They still drafted him though.XBL: DTX3

Re: "If If I can... MAKE it here I can make it ANYWHERE...
I hope he comes to New York so the Cavs wont be contending for any future titles. Also players seem to suck when they go to New York most recently Zach Randolph, Stephon Marbury, Steve Francis.
lol I dont see Lebrons skills deminshing on any team.
As far as NY vs. a Lebronless Cavs team...I think Cavs win that.Comment

So he forced the trade. Irritates me to no end to hear so many Laker fans when they play in Charlotte. Kobe insulted the entire city & you're going to cheer for him against your home team. Idiots.
Anyway, can someone clarify the Brookly Nets thing? I know I read a story 2 weeks ago saying the developer got the go ahead to start building. But folks here are still acting like its up in the air.-August 17, 1960Originally posted by VP Richard M. They did it w/the Hornets as well. And yes, I blame them for not rooting for the Bobcats. I think it sucks. "Yeah, Kobe. Charlotte is a dump. We are a bunch of morons for staying here."
