Is Kobe in Shaq's shadow?? IMO, yes he is. Think about it, what if Kobe never wins another title?? NBA Championships are tough to come by. He will always be mentioned as a great player, but people will say he had never won anything without Shaq, therefore, he won't be as good as Bird, MJ, etc. Playing with probaly the second most dominant player of all-time will do that to you. I think Kobe will be under Shaq's shadow quite a bit until he wins a title.

What I don't understand is how people think that it's impossible to build a team of great players around Kobe? Yes add Kobe to the Nuggets and he won't win a title. Guess what? Neither would Shaq. If Shaq could win with no talent like some people will tell you, he would have 9 rings already.

Wherever Kobe ends up, the teams' attendance will skyrocket. With the revenue, the organization can get more than just Kobe. MJ didn't win a title until the Bulls got one other superstar (Pip) a couple of above average players ( IE. Ho Grant, Rodman, Harper, ) and a host of dependable role players. If you give Kobe the same support, he will win championships. Without Shaq.

Remember, Pippen was All-NBA 6 times and named one of the 50 greatest. Add Kobe and T-Mac (could eventually be a 50 greatest) to the Grizz and Memphis wins at least 3 titles. Hell, add Kobe and The Matrix (Pip type player) to any decent team and you have a title contender.

Also, MJ and Shaq will both tell you coaching is very, very important. Neither won titles without Big Chief Triangle. Neither won without excellent support. Neither won without a great system and coaching staff, so to be fair ya gotta give Kobe the same situation before you can judge him........

Is Scottie Pippen in Micheal Jordan's shadow.....by many people's standards yes he is. Pippen may be a great player, but there are certainly pulling the guy down because he played with MJ. Same thing goes for Kobe. If he never wins a championship w/o Shaq he will be pulled down because of it. And with Duncan, Shaq, and KG in the way it's very possible he won't get another ring. People pull him down today because he hasn't done anything without Shaq and Shaq was the superior player on that Laker team. So today he is in Shaq's shadow and will be until he wins another title.

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

People who know the basketball know that Pippen is a Hall of Famer. Its a different situation Pippen actually had success without MJ. And as far as Shaq to Denver he would be way closer to a championship than Kobe. Kobe is a great player but I don't see him as the same level as Shaq when it comes to building a team around.

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

I don't know if you're agreeing with me or not LOL but people who know basketball do indeed know that Pip is a HOF. But he will not get his proper credit by everybody even basketball people because he simply played with MJ.

Kobe's in the same boat with Pip.

pippen isn't a hof er sure maybe he might have been a great player but he never got to show that only in one season he won't be and doesn't deserve to be one

No way Pip won't be a Hall of Famer. Even now announcers refer to him all the time as a future HOFer.

To be accurate the lakers did win that game against houston in double OT. Kobe did score 52 as well.

Ok my bad, you were talking about the second Houston vs LA game without Shaq, I was talking about the first.

Re: KOBE WILL ALWAYS BE IN SHAQ SHADOW

Pippen is still playing like he is under Jordans shadow since by the time he and Jordan has to separate ways he is too weak to have his own team to lead.
And guess what it was Jordan who make Pippen look so good in his career. And he admits it.
Kobe on the other hand believes he deserve the MVP every year because of his 32 points per game.
