    Draft Mistakes Your Team Made

    1995
Bulls select Jason Caffey. Michael Finley was selected with the very next pick.

    2001
Bulls select Trenton Hassell with the first pick in the 2nd round. Gilbert Arenas was the very next pick. If it wasn't bad enough that they passed on Arenas in the first round, they do it again in the 2nd.

Aside from a loaded draft, I don't think you consider anything outside the top 10 or 15 a mistake. Getting anything after that is luck (aside from the Spurs).

The Wizards have actually drafted very well.

    "OMG KWAME!!!!"

Yeah, but Kwame got us Caron (who is essentially a wash with anyone in that draft aside from...) and we acquired the best player in the draft later (Agent 0)

Other than that, our top 9 picks in the last 15 years have been:

    Devin Harris
    Rip Hamilton
    Sheed
    Juwan Howard

Nikoloz Tskitishvili... that draft had Amare, Caron Butler, Nene (who we got anyway along with Camby and Mark Jackson for McDyess, which was a great trade), Tayshaun Prince, and John Salmons.

At least we drafted Jalen and his epic suit in 1994.

Had a good few years from 90-92 with Abdul-Rauf, Deke, and LaPhonso Ellis (damn injuries).

We took Raef in 1998 over guys like Dirk, Antawn Jamison, VC, and Paul Pierce... though at least Raef was better than Olowokandi.

Other than that, we've given up Jameer Nelson and Jarret Jack on draft day, both of which we really could've used the past few seasons (and next). We got Kleiza out of the Jack deal, but still...

I wish Julius Hodge worked out... love that dude's game, but getting shot really took away his chances to fit in with the team and contribute. He's in Europe or China now I think.

                  Joey Graham over Danny Granger

                  Rafael Araujo over Andre Iguodala

Those 2 right there held us back for years.

                  don't forget Jonathan Bender.

I think the Warriors draft mistakes are summed up best by this, courtesy of the Wikipedia page:

Twardzik drafted several flops, such as Todd Fuller (while Kobe Bryant was still available) and Steve Logan (who never played an NBA game). In the following draft, the team selected Adonal Foyle while Tracy McGrady was still available.

                      .
Man I was so mad that day! When they called his name I just screamed out "WHAT!!!!" I wanted Amare so bad after I saw him in the Micky D's game(it was either that or the Jordan game) him and JJ was killing it I can remember it like it was yesterday I was sick for a long time after that.

And in 97 we took Tony Battie over Tmac

I don't think its hindsight with Tskotvili? Amare was better then too. Marvin Williams didn't even start in college and goes #2?

Well like the T-Mac thing -- so many teams are iffy about taking a HS player, so you can see the majority of teams passing on a guy like that... Especially if you remember that it wasn't exactly a LeBron situation where he was an absolute beast and a clear superstar from the jump. Taking a skilled big man in Tony Battie over a HS prospect wing player makes sense from many perspectives, especially since the Nugs had lost Dikembe fairly recently and had a big hole in the middle.

But yeah, something like taking Nikoloz was inherently risky (everyone wanted the next Dirk and took a bunch of untested lanky shooting bigs) when you had some more sure-fire prospects still on the board. Amare is one thing because again, he was a HS player with character issues, etc., but still, you're getting a more surefire contributor just because of his athleticism, which tends to translate better for bigs than being able to stroke Euro threes.

Heh, Skita is trying out for the Grizzlies and they apparently kinda like him. Saw that somewhere last week -- he was the oldest guy at the camp but they seemed intrigued.

I'm looking at the Milwaukee Bucks Draft history and it's actually pretty impressive. Got sessions at the end of the draft 2 years ago, TJ Ford has been good but injury prone. Got Dirk Nowitzki, Rafer Alston in the 2nd, got Kareem Abdul Jabar way back when. We just don't hang on to anyone.
