I can honestly see Malone in LA, but I dont know how much he can possibly help them. He's getting up there(or he's already there) in age, and he just isnt as skilled as he once was. I watched in closely in the first round and he didnt seem like he was all that great.

I’m not surprised either, all the old timers make a stop to LA to end their careers and win a championship, just look at Mitch Richmond last year. If they do get Malone, the Lakers will be a REALLY dangerous team.Comment

Re: Malone to LA? just a rumor
You people saying Malone hasn't got much in the tank aren't watching the same game i'm watching. Sure Malone's production has slipped but he still scores in the double digits and provides leadership. You have to remember that for the last 2 yrs that Utah has been undergoing a rebuilding phase and it was Stockton and Malone that carried the Jazz to a respectable record.
I can see Malone in a Lakers uniform and while he won't put up huge numbers because he would be the 3rd or 4th option he'll still be a major contributor. I think that Malone would rather trade the all time points lead for a ring and that's exactly what he'd get in LA. Malone would also be the tough guy to set things straight between Kobe and Shaq when they bicker as they always do.
Anyways i've been a fan of Malone for the last 10 yrs so I hope that he does get a ring even if it means he has to go to LA.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

If he goes to LA and becomes the 3rd or 4th scoring option, he can kiss away his chances of becoming the all time leader in points.. because he won't ever touch the ball.

There is no way he becomes 4th option..Comment

Re: Malone to LA? just a rumor
supposedly getting that all-time scoring record means a lot to him. his perfect situation would be to get on a contender and still score 20 points a game for the next two or three years, which is what he'll need to do to pass it.
so that might be why l.a. is not his first option, they say. although what team would be? dallas, spurs, kings...they're more loaded in scoring than l.a. is.
maybe it will be his first option. he could spell shaq at center, and since he's a quality jump shooter, he'd fit in well with kobe and shaq on the floor as well, get easier shots, probably could average at least 15 there.Comment

Re: Malone to LA? just a rumor
well, minnesota... like the mavs, spurs, and kings, pretty have have the power forward position all sown up.
maybe one of them will try him at the 3. that would be a risk though, i think.Comment
