Kobe has to be bashed because that is the price of fame and fortune. That is the price that accompanies being among the elite class of the NBA and pro sports in general.

That's not true either Slip, or Shaq wouldn't have punched Kobe up in practice, nor would Phil Jackson have pulled him out of countless games for not listening, or is it the cockiness, the telling the coach "you coach stupidly", or is it the "People think they can contain, and stop Kobe, no you can't, I can put the ball in the hole anytime I want to", or why woudl Philly cheer him on when he decided to enter the BNA, then later booed him in the all-star game, which never happened to any other athlete in his home town. There has been plenty of people more successful than Kobe right?

KDRE, When did Shaq punch Kobe in practice? I dont remember that.

I think Philly booed Kobe because he beat them in the Finals the year before, thats why I think they booed him, not necessarily because they dont like him. and Philly fans are the worst fans, remember when Micheal Irvin had a neck injury? all the Eagles fans were cheering.

No, its the success. It's in all sports. People dont like the Lakers, the Yankees, the Red Wings....unless you are a fan of those teams, you tend to hate them because they always win.

Re: So Kobe\'s going to go with Nike huh?

Slip, is Steve Kerr hated becasue he won 3 or 4 rings? That's success isn't it? Is The Dream hated for his back to back rings? How about Ron Harper, or Stacey King, or Bill Cartwright? No?

See Kobe's cockiness, and the attitude of the team he plays for believe me or not has alot to do with it.

49ers, although it wasn't the first time something like this has ever happened, Shaq really didn't like Kobe early in his career, and that is when it happened. As a matter of fact, many of his teammates didn't like him.

I actually liked the Lakers until they traded Nick, and dogged Eddie Jones out (who was by the way the best player, or should I say best defender, and potent scorer on the team at the time).

As far as Philly, didn't Kobe have like 30 + shots in the game? I think it was the same reason as always, he gets selfish, and forgets about his teammates for his own self, not for the good of the team. 30+ shots in the all-styar game is pretty bad when you hardly pass the ball around, or didn't score off of many assist.

As far as T-Mac, I still have yet to see a picture of him laughing, as him team was being eliminated, and portraying the picture that he doesn't have passion for the game, or doesn't care that he lost.

What's that? the kid wants to win? So is everyone in any sports area. For me as a previuos soccer player I won't cry on a defeat since I know there will always be ups and down to any situation.
He did not cry because of his love for the game. He cried because his EGO was touch. He was pretty sure he nd the Lakers can win against the SA.
And just in case calling people idiots says maybe you are a whiner when you loss.
You missed the point. He being a player nobody hates, but his attitude as a player is something a lot of people can hate including me.
It starts when he disrespect Karl Malone during one of the all-star game (can't remember the year). Who does he think he is disrespecting one of the NBA's powerful forwards. If only he manage to reach when Malone was dominant force in the NBA he would have been shove long before he could even enter the paint. Oh I remember now, that was 1999 when Utah destroyed Lakers 4-0.
Kobe sounding like he is the best basketball player in the world is somthing he have not achive yet. RESPECT is not something you can talk or do in the court. It is something he has to earn. Right now Kobe is full of talk. The reason why I also wanted the Lakers to loss is to make Kobe WAKE UP from his fantasy as the best player and team in the world.
But I have nothing about Shaq because he earn his spot in the NBA and he can back it up any given night. I still believe he can have a ring without Kobe. He and the Magic even reach the NBA finals in his rookie season and proceed to defeat the BULLS. Of course things change because Kemp, Malone, Barkley, Ewing and Hakeem are still strong on that time.
But Kobe needs to shut up and back every single words he has to say. Then maybe he can gain his respect.
