Excellent question. MJ had a much better public face than Kobe. Many, many people said that MJ was just a DR.J wannabe when he started out, but MJ always said the "right" things with the "right" look on his face. Kobe aint got that down yet. He still looks arrogant as hell in his interviews. Thats why so many people hate him. T-Mac for example says some dumb stuff like "I'm kinda glad Grant Hill got injured so I can show people what I can do" or something to that effect. BUT T-Mac just doesnt give off that arrogant vibe. So he don't get the hate. If Kobe said that about Shaq getting injured there would be a 500 post thread about it. Anyway, another one of MJ's greatest gifts was his public persona so no, he wasn't as hated as much as Kobe.....Another thing is like Wallyhopp said one time, with the internet, the hate gets spread much more quickly and efficiently. I think if the net was like this back in the day, MJ woulda' got a lot more hate.........

I'm a fan of Tracy, and i'll have to say yeah he did start laffing and joking around during the the lost in the 7th game with detroit. Still i wouldn't say he's not a competitor because of that.

People cry, people laff, we're all different people and handle different ways of different situations. Kobe's is not a wuss and Tracy does have compashion in the game. I'll admit i cried when i lost my last football game as a senior. Sports jus has that magic to bring out the emotion within someone, and if you are a true athelete then you should know.

ANYWAYS, this thread was about Kobe going with NIKE. I hate how everything with the word Kobe in it has to bring up MJ, Shaq, and Kobe crying.

Here's a question to get this steered in the right direction, how do you think his shoe will do? Personally i think the successful basketball shoes goes to the guys with the tougher image or a "street" image nowadays. I think kobe lacks that and allen iverson is a prime example of that. Then again if the shoe looks tight, doesn't really matter as long as its worn by a guard and not by a pf/center.

Lebron James shoe is gonna be a hot one. Will the Jordan shoe era ever die? Not for a long time, you can put Jordans in its own shoe category next to Basketball, cross trainers and running shoes IMO.
