Re: Rasheed commits to the Celtics...
I'm really excited about this upcoming season with all the moves being made. With all the impact players joining the already dominant teams will make things very interesting next season. One of the biggest things I want to see is how much better these teams will actually become and if these moves will pan out.
Stumble's just mad because the likelihood of Denver achieving the same success as last year is going by the wayside. LOL.Comment

I dunno, DEN is just as dangerous as anyone IMO.
Chauncey will have a full off season with his teammates.
Hopefully guys like Anderson/Nene stay hungry
And Smith gains more maturityComment

Re: Rasheed commits to the Celtics...
I'm not worried about the Nuggets at all actually. I hope people go back to counting them out so they can sneak in with a high seed again. An off-season with a real coach (Chauncey ha), JR finally getting a consistent starting role, Melo polishing his amazing point-forward game, more talent off the bench (Lawson > Carter)... As long as they can get a decent swingman (Barnes) to take Kleiza's spot and another big man for insurance/foul purposes, I think they're in great shape. They're not relying on a bunch of injury-prone old-timers like the Celtics are, so at least there's that.
I couldn't disagree more about the lack of parity thing though... the NBA's always been a top-heavy league and it's kind of irritating to people who are fans of the other 24 teams that haven't won a damn thing in 15 years. I guess watching some uber-Celtics and Lakers series next year might be fun, but I get much more enjoyment out of the 5+ months of a quality regular season by far, and I'm just sick of the same 6 teams being pre-season "locks" over and over with the final results basically meting that out.Last edited by Stumbleweed; 07-06-2009, 03:07 PM.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Re: Rasheed commits to the Celtics...
The NBA lacks year to year parity, but in terms of long term parity, it's probably the best of the major team sports.
I think the NBA is the only sport where a bad franchise has nobody to blame but itself.Comment

Re: Rasheed commits to the Celtics...
Actually no, the NBA has historically been the major sport with the least amount of parity. The Celtics and the Lakers are mainly responsible for that though.
I guess I'm complaining about a historical trend, but I still don't like it. Meh, I'll enjoy myself next season regardless, I just wish Artest and some of those guys would've went to teams who actually need them instead of just enriching the best 4 teams in the league further.
And respect to the Cavs... the only "it team" for the last 5 years that hasn't won a championship in its history... if I'm pulling for any playoff team other than the Nuggets, it's them...Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

The Mavs, the Spurs, and the Lakeshow are all going to be much better teams next year. Not to mention the best teams in the East have tried to make roster improvements. It seems like last year was your best shot given the circumstances. I actually think you guys may have been able to beat the Magic for the title if they got by the Lakers.
But when you think about it, I don't think the disparity is as big as it seems.
The West is still strong from top to bottom. It's in the East that we see this disparity and Orlando Boston just became elite teams.Comment

Re: Rasheed commits to the Celtics...
To me, parity is more about what is possible than what actually happens. For example, in baseball and college football, it is essentially impossible for some teams to maintain championship level success simply because of their limitations compared to others. In the NBA, with 2-3 years of quality drafting and good free agent moves, any team can become a conference contender. However, I think the NBA also has, by far, the worst bottom tier of owners who manage to keep certain teams at the bottom of the league for long stretches of time.Comment

Re: Rasheed commits to the Celtics...
Barring any injuries come playoff time the celtics will be the eastern champs with that lineup... This just takes any hype out of the next years playoffs.Comment

Re: Rasheed commits to the Celtics...
But at this point, ignoring things like injury, fatigue, and general regression when 5 of a team's top 6 players will be 32, 35, 37, 34, and 34 next playoffs is ignoring the inevitable.Comment

Re: Rasheed commits to the Celtics...
What? Pierce will be 32, Ray will be 34, KG will be 33, Rasheed will be 35, Rondo will be 24, and Perk will be 25.Comment

Re: Rasheed commits to the Celtics...
And KG will be 34 for the 2 rounds that matter and 33.9 for the 2 that don't.Comment
