I have seen more fouls made by the CPU, especially with foul calling turned to strict, the number of charging violations made by the CPU has been reduced a lot.

I bought ID 2002 and returned it two days later. It was decent enough, but nothing compared to NBA2k2 I was currently playing.

ID 2003 looks to be improved a fair bit. The most noticeable and impressive feature I see is the much smoother and improved frame rate. It didn't look 60fps in the first game but the new videos of 2003 look very smooth.
The player animation has improved a bit too, especially the transitions from one move to another.
I really hate the second commentator, with all his phrases and such but it sounds pretty cool to have 3 (with Kenny Smith the new addition) all going at once.
I think last year, ID 2002 seemed like an above average attempt that set the groundwork for a potentially great game in future years. This year, it becomes/or almost becomes a real contender.
I haven't seen enough of NBA Starting 5, but would think ID 2003 is the 2nd best, after the almighty NBA2k3

Man, I can't wait for ID 2003. IMHO, the gameplay (yes, even with the abundance of blocks and quick gameplay) clearly outshined what SEGA and EA brought to the table (in game). 2002 wasn't perfect, but IMHO it was (and is) the most enjoyable 32 minutes I've spent playing a full game of console basketball. By a LARGE margin.

I owned NBA2k2 for 3 weeks (traded my copy of ID 2002 for it), grew accustomed to it's game style, played a demo of ID 2002 from an OXM demo disk, remembered how much I enjoyed playing ID, then traded BACK 2k2 for ID 2002. The gameplay is IMHO, worth the loss in finances.

2003 should ROCK!!!!

Hey Steve. You're doing a great job answering these questions. I cannot wait to get this game, and after reading this topic, it just makes me want it that much more. Here are my questions:

1. How will the ending be after a team wins the championship? Will they announce an MVP and hand out a trophy? And will they show the team celebrating in the locker room?

2. Can the coaches get technical fouls?

3. Are there going to be fights?

4. How are they going to go about injuries? Like ID 2002, they had the player laying there holding his knee or something, and then a timeout would be called and he'd just not be tehre anymore. Are they going to have someone help him out or something?

5. Is there going to be instant replay?

That's all for now. I have a lot more questions, but I don't wanna bug you with too much.

In the practice mode, is it only 2 on 2 you can play? Or can you have just one person shooting around, dribbling, etc.?
