Re: Mailman going to the Mavericks?
<font color="pink"> The only way the Mavs sign a BIG free agent this offseason will only be thru a sign-n-trade deal. They simply don't have enough cap Rm to bring in a BIG FA unless the FA is willing to take a major paycut & play for 1yr & then resign to a long term deal & BIG $!
Mark Cuban himself said it during an interview last week, DAL will have a better shot of getting the help they need thru a sign-n-trade deal.
Names i've heard are Brian Grant (Heat) , PJ brown (Hornets) & Mutombo (Nets).
Bradely is a goner & either Finely or VanExcel will be part of any deal.
Offseason should be fun.

Re: Mailman going to the Mavericks?
Yap Malone will be the perfect person to slow down this players. Garnett, Duncan, Oneal, and Webber. Yap, and that is in the next 2 to 3 months of his final playoffs appearance I think. They difinitely need a sub and they need someone like Mourning to go with it. If they can get them. One of the thigs is, Nelson has yet to develop Malone on his style of play.
But right now Malone is not in a position to gamble with MAVS. To risky for his final year especially if other teams who reach the playoffs this season will also develop. Players who have tested there skills this year will come back stronger than before. Cu'z right now LA is still a team to beat. Kobe will play smarter, (after his humiliation) O'neal will come back (after his pride was FRIED). SA's rookies will be smarter, and will start to develop as a player, plus an addition of (maybe) Jermaine O'neal, will indeed make them a championship again.
Minnesotta will improve a lot after shaking LA in the first round. Expect a 7 game series when LA and MIN meet in the playoffs again.
Sacramento will need additional buff in the PF position. It can make Malone's QUEST for a title in the MAVS more risky.
He is better off riding the DARKHORSE than the DARKHORSe himself.
And all teams who saw MAVS plans and style will do every effort to counter it especially SA and Kings. If MAVS will have to pick Malone, he has to stay on shape like he was when he face the BULLS. Because right now CHAMPIONSHIP happens on the WEST not in the finals.
And Malone is already far, very far from what he used to be when he face Jordan's Bulls.

If I could remember correctly Heat offered Brian Grant for Van Excel last during this regular season. But MAVS turn it down, so I still expect to see Heat trying to get Excel for Grant.
PJ Brown is something but not enough answer for MAVS now. They need guys like Malik Rose to go play with Brown on the low post.
Or they can just talk to DET for Ben Wallace. You know, Raef and first round.Comment

Finley or Van Excel? Who would you keep and why.
<hr /></blockquote><font class="post">
I would keep Van Excel. He really seems to energize this team coming off the bench. When the other players seem a bit worn down, he comes off the bench and fires them up again. I really don't think they are going to get rid of either one though.Comment

Re: Mailman going to the Mavericks?
Can't the Mavs pick up Malone with the mid-level exception? That's assuming Malone will take a pay cut that big. Then, the Mavs could hold on to all of their players. They don't really care about the salary cap, or even the luxury tax for that matter. Cuban has $$$ coming out of bung hole.Comment
