The only way the Mavs sign a BIG free agent this offseason will only be thru a sign-n-trade deal. They simply don't have enough cap Rm to bring in a BIG FA unless the FA is willing to take a major paycut & play for 1yr & then resign to a long term deal & BIG $!
Mark Cuban himself said it during an interview last week, DAL will have a better shot of getting the help they need thru a sign-n-trade deal.
Names i've heard are Brian Grant (Heat) , PJ brown (Hornets) & Mutombo (Nets).
Bradely is a goner & either Finely or VanExcel will be part of any deal.
Offseason should be fun.
Go Spurs Go!

Do you actually think Mark Cuban gives a damn about money. They are already over the cap and are already paying the luxury tax. Money definitely won't be an issue.

yes but you can't just sign and sign if your already over the cap you can't go out and sign a player to a max deal. the mid-level expection is something that if you are over the cap you can use that to sign a free agent

You guys make some odd bets. If Mavs can somehow land 'Zo or the Mailman, (And this is assuming Zo is close to his all-star level), then we would have as good as a shot as anybody.

Even with Alonzo on the MAVS frontline, it is still not enough if they can't pick another one.
Remember, Duncan and Rose are veterans even in there early NBA years.
The more SA clash with LA strongest lineup, the more they will become better as a team.
So in other words, before MAVS can dominate, SA will be there huge mountain. Also whoever SA pick in the offseason, it will be something to see.
And if MAVS cannot develop there low post fast enough it might take them longer to get where they want to go.
MIN and PHX's rookies are starting to show there color and they have less to work when it comes to there offense and defense. MAVS has a big overhaul in there defense since Mourning will start to decline as a player.
Cu'z if Mourning is the kind of player you guys expect, HEAT would have been the team facing SA in the 99 finals instead of NY.
The opportunity of MAVS is also closing fast because Nelson is not long lasting. And he doesn't have the patience to rebuild half of his team. And he needs help fast from both Malone and Mourning if they hope to win a title. But then LA will be there toughest challenge. Even if LA can't pick a good PF, they are still a team to beat in the present. Horry is still a capablr PF. If SA can pick Jermaine O'neal, the door is closing fast for MAVS before they start from scratch again. If they hope to win a title within 3 years, they should have develop there defense together with there offense.
Unless in the turn of events something will happen, now that's another story.

I know exactly who's free after this season. We could work with 3 million. Arguing this is moot. You'll see us make a run at PJ Brown and Alonzo Mourning this summer. It'll get done. Throw that cap ish out the window.

I dunno why people are talking about rebuilding in Dallas. They just went to the WCF, and all their players are still really young. At least their core, superstar players are. To me, all Dallas needs is a defensive-minded low post player. Once they get that, they all have to learn to play defense together. That's it. Then they need a year, if even that, to gel and they're right back in it again. This is a great team, a fun team, and they are going to get better. 60-12 is awesome, and that's without a low-post player.
