I dunno why people are talking about rebuilding in Dallas. They just went to the WCF, and all their players are still really young. At least their core, superstar players are. To me, all Dallas needs is a defensive-minded low post player. Once they get that, they all have to learn to play defense together. That's it. Then they need a year, if even that, to gel and they're right back in it again. This is a great team, a fun team, and they are going to get better. 60-12 is awesome, and that's without a low-post player.

There lineup is only as good as Nelson is around. Nelson is the one who created that team and he is the only one who knows how to use them. Once he is gone, MAVS will have a new caoch and depending on the new caoch, half of the MAVS team will be rebuild.
Even now MAVS need to rebuild half of it's team on the frontline part. They can win all games on the regular season, but PLAYOFFS is different. Very different because now you are facing the potential candidates for the title.
One of the reason MAVS needs to pick a establish PF is because Nelson doesn't have time to develop one. There predicament is the salary cap. Nelson know that in there current lineup they will not go back to the WEST FINALS again. Unless SAC will loss Webber again. But if they are gonna be facing either LA or SA in the 1st round, there gone. As simple as that. Even if they manage to to defeat SA with all there hearts out, there is no way they can overcome LA in one playoffs. They can only take either LA or SA in one playoffs. They must not face both of them because they won't have the gas to withstand another championship team.

SAC on the other hand has the capability to face both in one playoffs. Not a guaranteed win but an earned victory for either LA or SA. Whether you admit it or not, SAC's low post is as strong as the low post of either SA or LA.
And MAVS can only pray that the referee will take out the physical part of the game because there ain't no way they can withstand the low post of SA and LA.

I don't think that SAC has a low post game anywhere near that of SA or LA. They have Webber and Divac. Divac is getting old, and can't do the things he used to do. He is a smart player and a great passer (for a big man), but he doesn't really have low post moves. Webber doesn't like going inside. He did it more this season, posting up and then going with that hook of his, but for the most part, he likes to stay outside. I don't think SAC's low-post play compares to that of Shaq or TD at all. Definitely better than the Mavs, since they have no one, but not to LA or SA. IMO

They also got Keon Clark who is also a good defender. All I am saying about SAC low post is, they might not be as strong as LA or SA, but they can defend there low post descently. They might not like to score on the low post, but I bet they can defend it as good as either LA or SA. Or against LA or SA.
But to tell the truth, SAC and SA are teams LA doesn't wanna face in an eleimination round. Becuase both this teams hjas what it takes to defeat them any given night.

                        I would have to agree.

LA, SA, and SAC are the elite teams of the NBA.

But among the 3 SA (I believe) will be the one standing in the long run. Because they are much younger among the 3 and they already have experienced (and soon to be experienced players). and MR. POPO won't be retiring anytime soon so they have all the time to play around.
And SAC needs to start developing another PF because Webber will decline anytime soon. I almost fogot Divac but I think Clark got it covered. And LA will have to start looking for good players because Shaq is slowing down while Kobe's future with LA is uncertain. So whatever time they had left they better enjoy it while it last. And MAVS might be young but there coach is not so it wil become a problem because I don't think Nellie Jr. is ready to take his DAD's footsteps. Nor he will be a championship coach material anytime soon. And hiring another coach will mean rebuilding because evry coach has there own style of play and for the most part they will create it according to there taste.
                            And POR still SUCKS.

Re: Mailman going to the Mavericks?

you can hate on Dallas all you want, but they will be among the elite teams for years to come. They have improved their regular season and playoff win totals in EACH of the last four years. What makes you think that that improvement trend will not continue? Dallas is young and they are just getting started. It doesnt matter if you respect them or not. They have earned plenty of respect for their play on the court.

This year Dallas tied for the most wins in the NBA and they advanced to the WCF. I think they are pretty close to putting it all together. Let me put it to you this way - Would you rather be in Dallas's situation or Sacramento's.

As far as Nellie is concerned, he has at least 3 or 4 good years left as coach and GM. Dallas will be prepared when Nellie leaves the NBA and Dallas, but until then, Dallas has one of the best coaches in the league.

The Mavs have one of the brightest presents and futures in the NBA. You have to put them in the top two, three, or four in the entire NBA. It would be hard to say that Sacramento is ranked higher than Dallas.
