    Durant as good--or better?!?!--than...

    From Sam Smith, Bulls .com

    Durant as good--or better?!?!--than LeBron?

-- It's being whispered now among NBA types because, I believe, under a secret NBA/ESPN provision you are not permitted to say aloud anything that might be interpreted to suggest LeBron James isn't the best thing to ever happen in anyone's life. But sitting in the stands in Las Vegas at the USA Basketball mini-camp and hearing NBA coaches and general managers, the gasps have been for Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant. I've now heard more than one say Durant could be a better player than James given Durant's combination of amazing size at about 6-10 and pure shooting stroke. And he's still 20. The feeling is Durant is on the brink of being a 30 per game scorer. Plus, Durant is a serious worker. The Bulls' Derrick Rose has become close with Durant and the two have worked out together considerably this summer. Said Rose, who is five days younger than Durant: "KD is great. He's real talented. I look at him as like a big brother to me even though we're the same age. He's been in the league longer. He's a great talent, 6-10 guy who can dribble, shoot like a guard. He's going to be a great talent in the league."

I'd like to see KD add little more weight. IF KD was as strong as Lebron then I say okay they are even..

He won't be better than Lebron, but for starting a franchise, I would take him at worst third behind Lebron and Howard.

        No.

        Just no.

Get back to me when KD gets half of LBJ's passing/vision. Not to mention defense.

Until then just stfu Sam Smith or whatever your name is.

Dude must be desperate for those internet hitz

Before people throw a hissy fit like some usually do whenever someone says "_______ is/could be better than Lebron", the KEYWORD in that article is "Could".

That being said, I only say this:

          He's only 20.

Keep that in mind right now lol.

Oh and Born and myself are still accepting applications into the prestigious KD Club as well.

Didn't Lebron just start play defense like year? He didn't come into the league as good defener.

              So they're asking a question.

              And people are answering.

Could he better than LBJ right now.

              Hell no.

I'm with Ex and the answer in an emphatic NO. Could he possibly become a better scorer?? Sure he could. But as far as being a better player it's just not happening. People want to be quick to bring up and keep throwing out the fact that Durant is only 20 years but let's not forget what LeBron was doing at 20 and in his third year in the league. We are talking about 31 points,7 boards, and 7 assists. Those are legendary number for anybody at any age. There have only been like 2 people EVER to do that at anytime.

The difference between the two is passing/vision, leadership, defense, and rebounding. In all of those except for rebounding the gap is pretty huge. LeBron came into the league with out of this world passing ability and court vision. He was the unquestioned leader of that team from day one and has improved his teams wins total by leaps and bounds. Durant doesn't have that and hasn't impacted the win column like LeBron did or has. He could possibly get up there with the W's but I don't ever see him getting to LeBron's level with the passing and court vision. He also doesn't have the overall impact on the game like LeBron does or did at the same time. We all know LeBron can win you a game or get you there without scoring. If Durant isn't scoring honestly what else can he do to get his team to the W right now??

I'm a huge fan of Durant and he could easily become the best scorer in the game but his all around game won't get to LeBron's level. Durant could become the league's number two man behind LeBron and there is nothing wrong with that.

I guess it had to be said Pretty, even though IMO that was pretty obvious. But good post nonetheless.

Also, I wasn't aware that PP and Born were the first to discover KD's talents

I'm with Cebby, LBJ/Howard then Wade then KD

Lebron is only 24 and is already looking like a hall of famer. I don't see Durant catching him.

Ahhh it's that time of the year again isn't it? Where writers have pretty much nothing to write about because they don't want to do pieces on more interesting topics but instead go with

IS PLAYER X BETTER THAN Z? I'M NOT SAYING HE IS BUT....

That reporter got a lot of publicity off of that. Because that is completely insane. If Durant gained 20 lbs of pure muscle and still averaged his stats on a good team...Maybe. But too soon.

Yeah, just a writer who's desperate for attention and decent storylines in the dog days of summer.
