    Made this a while back...

    34.6 -MPG- 39.5
    43.0 -FG%- 41.7
    28.8 -3%- 29.0
    87.3 -FT%- 75.4
    4.4 -RPG- 5.5
    2.4 -APG- 5.9
    1.0 -SPG- 1.6
    0.9 -BPG- 0.7
    2.9 -TO- 3.46

As you can see, they are very very close in their first seasons.

I even looked at their shot attempts and LeBron took 126 more shots that Kevin in the first year. This resulted in LeBron only scoring 30 more points that year total than Durant. Also note that LeBron played 354 more minutes than KD.

Add to that the fact that Kevin even played one more game than LeBron in their rookie year, and one could argue that Kevin is the more efficient scorer.

One could argue that Kevin could have benifited from the year he played in college as oppose to LeBron who came from high school. But, both came into the league at roughly the same age. So...

When comparing rookie years, I'd say that Durant was better in every area than LeBron. The one thing that gives Bron the nod is his playmaking/passing ability. He also has the slight edge rebounding the ball.

Other than that, I'd say Durant was better in every other aspect of the game. He also turned the ball over less than Bron to boot (although Bron may or may not have handled the ball more).

But the one thing is that the Cavs had a much improved record in his first year. The Thunder (Sonics), not so much. But you can argue that Kevin had less to work with than LeBron. Add to the fact that he played in the tougher conference.

So I think I may change my stance and say that Durant may give LeBron a run for his money down the road.

I wish I could see Durant play more. Sucks that he doesn't get any TV time. I'd love to see him and Westbrook play.
    Comparing the two last year:

    LeBron- 28.4 ppg, 49% FG, 34% 3pt, 78% FT, 7.2 ast, 7.6 reb, 1.7 stl, 1.1 blk, 3 TO
    Durant- 25.3 ppg, 48% FG, 42% 3pt, 86% FT, 2.8 ast, 6.5 reb, 1.3 stl, 0.7 Blk, 3 TO

    LeBron- 24 years old
    Durant- 20 years old

I didn't feel like looking them up, but I know that Kobe wasn't doing what Durant has been doing at his age. It's not like Kobe is known for being the greatest playmaker and having the best court vision in the world. He's known for his work ethic, his drive, and his scoring ability (Sound familiar). Yet, people argue who's better.

So why can't Durant be as great as LeBron one day? Honestly...

Saying "HELL NO" is somewhat of a ridiculous statement, IMO.

Hell no Durant isn't on LBJ's level right now. I don't think anyone said Hell no that KD will ever be on James' level one day in the future.

Off with TMagic's head for not even reading the article

Also gun to my head I would say "no" that KD will never surpass or even be on LBJ's level.

To only be 20 years old though with those skillz that is truly nasty.

I don't have any doubt in my mind that KD will be an All-Star this year.

                He's only 20.

Keep that in mind right now lol.

Oh and Born and myself are still accepting applications into the prestigious KD Club as well.

                i want to join!!

and why couldnt he be as good or gasp.. better than lebron?
he already is a superior shooter. and his attitude and work ethic all point to a player who will be a superstar for many many years.
and he is only 20!! the sky is the limit. i think those that are claiming he wont match lebrons level are jumping the gun a little.

That's because it's OS. People jumping the gun is a regular routine, especially over here.

Also, I wasn't aware that PP and Born were the first to discover KD's talents

Yeah but I don't see anybody in this thread saying he will never be able to reach his level. There are people saying they don't see it happening but I don't see anybody saying it's impossible or anything like that. All the "hell no" responses came from saying could he be better than him RIGHT NOW. That is about the only logical answer that you could give RIGHT NOW unless all of a sudden Durant is going to put up 30,7,and 7, plays All NBA level defense, win the MVP, and lead his team to around 60 this season. I just don't honestly see that happening. I can easily see him putting up 30 a game and be an all star but to say he will or could be on the all around level of play as LeBron, Kobe, or Wade is a reach.

no kidding. durant is a beast no doubt, but he has to make his team better, and get them in the playoffs like Lebron, before we start comparisons.

The article that DC posted says he could be better than him, but the only problem is the author doesn't specify if he's talking about right now, next year or 2-3 years from now. The way I read it, I took it as him saying he could be better down the road, which he might or might not be but we'll never know until that time comes.

It doesn't matter when he meant it, Durant will not suddenly average 8 assist a night.

Let's not forget, LeBron isn't even in his prime yet. It's not like LeBron is a finished product and Durant is improving, they are both improving at the same time. And that's not to say Durant isn't going to be good, but LeBron's stats are Magic-esqe while Durant, to me, reminds me much more of Melo than LeBron.

I think Durant will create his own legacy, which is a great scorer, but I don't know if he'll ever be much more than that.
